Congrats to everyone who has given up - stay strong :T
I'm now on day 9, I even went to the pub on Saturday night which was a massive challenge but I did it! I did give up about 4 years ago for 18 months and I really did find it so hard, even 18 months on hence why I gave in and started again.
This time I'm determined to do it, for both my health and bank balance, I've GOT to pay my debt off and this is only going to help!
Edit: the lollies thing helped me massively last time, especially after meals.Fell off wagon but now had another LBM. Debt 04/01/11 £9461

Thank you so much for that lovely welcome Sue-UU. I had my last ciggie last night and am now a non-smoker again!! I've tried to be really conscious of when I get urges to smoke today, and so far they are ALL at exactly the times I used to have one. My body knows the time better than I do
I'm just taking deep breaths of fresh air instead and the urge passes very quickly. Best of luck to everyone else. It's very encouraging reading that so many people are doing so well!

Ooh lots of new friends! Nice to meet you all - good luck - we're all after the same thing in here so you'll get lots of support.
6 WEEKS!!!!! Wahey for me!!!!:T :T :T
Believe me it gets easier - my brian still gives me the odd nudge every now and again but it's so much easier to shrug off now. In fact the very idea of lighting up seems so silly. I hope I will always feel like this.
Even though I have not been buying cigs, I've still got two weeks to go till payday and I'm skint! How the heel did I ever find £35.00 a week to spend on fags!??? Hopefully will become more solvent in Feb and start reaping the rewards.
I'm still taking champix the wonder drug! How is everyone else getting on with their various forms of support. Whatabout you cold turkeys? Hope you're doing OK. I believe that after the first few days the nicotine has left your body and really it's all in the mind after that - but the mind can be a powerful enemy and a good friend. You can survive without nicotine, and once you've done one day, two days... a week... a month you can only get stronger and stronger.
Good luck my friends... x0 -

Bozzy I did exactly the same thing about 7 years ago - gave up for 18 months - wasn't that bothered about smoking really but had a bit of a bad time going on and someone offered me a cig and that was it. Back on 20 a day within a week or so.
It does bother me that that will happen again so I tell myself everyday that I will not smoke today. I have actually put in my diary reminders for this year and next year! Just in case!
You will get loads of support from this site - could be your new addiction!0 -
Hello all, I wonder if I could join in too? I am on day 6 of Champix and I am finding that every time i take a tablet for about half an hour afterwards I feel really sick - not a good side effect but at least it does ease off. I am planning on stopping smoking on day 9 to day 10.
Well done to all those that have already stopped and long may it continue.:D0 -
Hi ljs2000 - I'm on Champix and the sicky feeling has worn off quite a bit now. The other side affect I have had is very vivid dreams and sleeping lighter/broken nights but again, that's not such a problem anymore and I did have a nasty cold over Christmas that probably didn't help.
Very best of luck with Champix, there's a few of us on here at various stages so you'll always find someone to discuss it with.0 -
Can I be the part pooper today? I stopped 1 month 1 week and 1 day ago and am REALLY REALLY struggling again. Had a wobble earlier this week, thought I had sorted my head out and now I feel back to square one AGAIN. I have done nothing all day but think about smoking and how miserable I am without it. I'm in a foul mood (thankfully hubby is at work and children are at school), the reasons it was a good idea to stop seem irrelevant and I could MURDER a fag.
When will it ever bally end????:T SMOKE FREE SINCE 3rd DECEMBER 2008 :T0 -
Ooh Lily - try to be strong. It is horrible - and the more depressed you feel the more likely you are to think that a cigarette will make you feel better. But will it? You have done so well, I know you can't have a moan at home and let people know how you're feeling so you're actually doing better than some of us!
Look back over your own posts and remind yourself why you are giving up. Breath in really deeply and let the breath out with all the cravings. Then get busy. Go for a walk; make some biscuits for when the kids get home - the house will smell scrummy! When hubby/partner gets home demand a proper hug and know that he wont smell any nasty faggy old smell on you.
So easy for me to say I know, but you will not always feel so bad, you will start feeling better, one day you wont even think about cigs. If you do have a cig you might think you feel better, but do you really want to start stopping all over again.
I will be thinking about you this afternoon and hope you feel better x.0 -
Hi Little Lily,
Please try to be strong, I'm not sure if it will be of any help to you but I whenever I had strong cravings (I only quit 3 months ago) I used to find that cleaning my teeth used to help it pass.
I think it was the activity of cleaning them (so not smoking) combined with the fact that even as a smoker I never wanted to smoke when I had minty breath helped me.
I hope this help!NSDs: 4/50 -
