Fayjmck - thank you for your kind words! brought a tear to my eye! I'm feeling so emotional tonight!!
I didn't think about the calories in wine vrs food, I think I've had a lot less tonight then than usually! - Wheres the chocolate?!
I'm sorry to hear you fretted at the weekend, I imagine weekends are hard because it feels like weekends ARE drinking days for a lot of people, especially if you work during the week (which I don't, am sahm).0 -
Fedupskink take care hun, hopefully you are getting the support you need, but we are still here if there is anything we can do (((hugs)))0

A year or so ago my doctor put me on Citalopram for anxiety and panic attacks (and I drank whilst I was on them - silly me).
A typical panic attack for me often crept up AFTER a big event - which was weird, but we're all different I guess. So I'd cope with something stressful (for me, a family gathering, lots of issues there) or perhaps an exam (I'm studying with the OU)...anyway, I would get a feeling like I couldn't breathe properly, like I was forgetting how to breathe, then I'd feel dizzy and really agitated, sometimes my arms would go a bit numb....this is classic anxiety and panic attacks. Certainly exacerbated by the booze. Breathe through them....just focus on your breathing, count your breaths...count to 4 and breathe in....hold for a count of 2.....breathe out slowly to a count of 4. It helps.
They pass - they won't kill you - just go with them.
And the same about sleeping (or not) when we first quit. I had a week or so of rough nights - nightmares, sweats, insomnia....its part of recovery unfortunately. So go with it....again breathing as above, also take perhaps a herbal prep. like Kalms or Quiet Life....Rescue Remedy spray is lovely - keep it by the bed, very reassuring. And if you can't sleep, perhaps listen to some music or make a cuppa and watch tv for a while.
It passes - it really does.
Good luck
X
PS I quit the Citalopram before the booze - and like all antidepressants the withdrawal can be slow and painful. But giving up the booze for me has been much more of a challenge.Drinks to remember I, Me and Myself

, sounds like a great idea.
How does the challenge work? Do I just say how many days in the month I am going to try and stay sober, like a target?0
