  • Forgot to say - I am stopping the AFD in AFJ and now going to stick to my Reduction Therapy malarkey as the counsellor told me. Am reducing the target maximum week by week, this week keeping under 36 units..... well thats the aim !

    I'm here...Sir William indeed!

9/9 and I'll be here throughout.

Stiff Little Fingers have the ex-Jam player Bruce Foxton on bass now....

or they did last time I looked...

Sir William - you've done nothing wrong at all. Having said that, how many "Sirs" do you know who are entirely innocent?

    take care everyone!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
  • Some really good points made and after a sleepless night thinking this through I know I would miss the thread so I will give it another go and I think I will just ignore any judgmental posts that pop up every now and then rather than let it spoil the support I have received from you all. (but the main reason for staying is because I would hate to be accused of skewing Lurkios stats:D ) BHB I was not offended by your post at all it did highlight to me though how difficult it is to define when a concern becomes a medical problem, I stand by my view that the first one is ridiculous though and would make most of the UK and all of France alcoholics:rolleyes: Winebox I will be cruising down the African river alongside you as normal;) :D

So after a gorgeous glass of red yesterday I remain on 5/8

Anything is a step up from Ali McMordie

I think Foxton is now touring with Rick Buckler calling themselves 'From The Jam'.........

when i started on here about 4-5 months ago the thing that really inspired me was the non-judgemental support. Bis, MP and Eselt (who is sourly missed) were/are like the three wise owls who for individuals reasons dont drink anymore. but not once have they ever judged or said anything about anyone else drinking. they have offered support and advice when it has been asked, and have basically always been there for everyone. i for one dont think this thread would be what it is without them and its made it what it is. So, please lets get back to this nice cocoon of the world, nice and friendly, and warm and safe.

without this thread i honestly would not be sat here on sat morning with a clear head, having had a lovely "real" sleep.
Last night i went to pizza express with my LO and normally i would always have a couple of peroni's or glasses of chianti but i stuck to diet coke. when the bill came i had my voucher that i had printed off here and it cost £9.25!! i was so shocked. how mSE!!!! i wouldnt think twice that a glass of wine in a restaurant can be anything from £3- £6 a glass ....and i would normally have 2!!!!!
It left me on a real high though so i didnt want to drink when i got in, like i normally would on friday.
so please update me lurky - 8/9
thanks guys, have a great day

  • 8/9 for me please lurkio. Met a friend after work yesterday and deliberately chose a cafe venue. Trouble was it closed at 4.30 so we went on to a pub for........a diet coke!

    Good for you.

When the going gets too much, step inside your cosmic hula hoop and ignore the outside world. Then when you are calm and centred, you can venture outside your comfort zone.

Go frit BHB. I think that is a very sensible and - if I may say so - brave thing to do. :D You'ld made a conscious decision to do more than that but now are taking a more gradual reduction. Look at weight loss...if you just totally gofrit and lose say 5 stone in next to no time then chances are when you get to the end..and relax...you just pile all the weight back on again.

By the way when i say 'you' I mean the royal you/us, not necessarily your good self!;)

And with reference to acceptable drinking levels, I wouldn't say that 36 units is that bad. I personally think that the 'recommended' acceptable limits are very low and the people who suggest them must be well one their way to sainthood.:A TRC prepares to duck...

Keep going all, we need to get Lurkio to invest in a second wagon to house us all.
