    Hi guys

Saw this thread and just thought i'd contribute my tuppence worth.

    I quit drinking on 7/4/2007.

I read Allen Carr's Easyway to Control Alcohol the day before.

    That's it!

I've had a blast in the last two years since then and I've not missed alcohol - in fact I can't stand teh smell!

Just wanted to suggest you give it a go.

    Good luck.

  • As day ten approaches, people are starting to get a little uncomfortable. This is expected. If you really miss booze, this is how you will feel for a very long time.
What you want is NOT to miss drink, and not even think about it.

Just by avoiding alcohol, this is unlikely. You need to look at why you drink heavily, and really get to grips with yourself, fears, resentments, anxieties.

That said, everyone on here has done extremely well, those cutting down as well as those abstaining. Please continue your efforts.
If you don't continue, be honest about why you don't want to continue. Please don't volunteer to be the victim.

I don't think you should apologise for posting those definitions. I thought most people on here (myself included) were saying that the first definition was slightly ridiculous as it would mean probably 90% of men that I know who drink are alcoholics which I don't think is the case!
Maybe my sarcasm doesn't carry so well on forums.:o

Anyway I will not be drinking again today and so that would make me 6 out of 10 days AF Lurkio please.

I imagine people are still lurking even if they are not posting anymore so good luck to everyone again whether cutting down or giving up! I wish I had aimed for the 31/31 now, I think the people who are aiming for an AF January are doing very well.:A

Oh my - I turn my back for one evening...........

What has happened to us all?!!! For those that said they'll come back on Monday and see if it is the same, well done!!! I think sometimes we need to step back......

NO ONE was accusing anyone of anything as far as I could see. There was a general discussion, albeit on a very emotional subject, particularly for those contributing to this thread. But lets gain a sense of perspective here, and try and remember what the thread is for and what it has done for you so far....

For me, I would certainly be waking up this morning a bit groggy and dehydrated, having had my sleep interrupted by the need for a night time visit to the loo.... as it is, my head is together enough to put together a reasonably coherent, lengthy post after just one cup of coffee :D that's YOU LOT that have enabled that to happen. Every single one of you. Please, those that have said they are going, step away, reconsider and please think not only of yourselves, but the help and support you are giving others, just by joining in!!!!

Apart from anything else, its going to skew my numbers :cry:

Can we have a roll call?

Lurkio, checking in - day 9

Molly - how do YOU know what I do best? :rotfl:

ym - great post. I am of course FAR too young to remember the original, but I remember Stiff Little Fingers (punk band, for those too young) doing that song as an encore once......

Sir William of Barsham Hill - :naughty::naughty:. Seriously, don't feel bad. I uderstand the spirit in which it was intended........

I'll update the list shortly..... if there's anyone left.......:o :o

:DNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh :D
  • I'm staying :T

    8/9 for me Lurky
