Well yesterday tea time I decided the day had a y in it so it must be time to have some wine.

I can just make my target if I have 4 more drinking days. Still, I'm already doing better than last month.

Winebox, if you go for your target that's 9/10 which would be good. I could drink one of the next 4 days in solidarity and miss my target too if you like. :rotfl:Actually that's quite likely without any such incentive!! You've still notched up more AFDs this month, keep going!!
I am another Button fan, so pleased to see him win on Sunday.

Re headaches, just to confuse things I'm not taking Kudzu and have been getting headaches. I've mostly been drinking more water too. Think I'm getting drunk on less booze too. Some nights (the sober ones) I'm sleeping much better but also much heavier. Feel like my body is shutting down to fix itself after all the abuse or something.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:kind of you to offer.......but let's not!

Fay I agree with the local honey thing & hayfever it's worked for me....sadly the local producer who's in my village lost half his hives to colony collapse last year so fingers crossed he can keep going.

HS pls put me down for 6 afds now.

I'm not feeling so clever since aerobics - ouch. But this is the first class I've been to without drinking afterwards to get over it!

Hi all- some valiant efforts here at the moment.

Just a quick one about talking about kudzu, I searched for herbal remedies on this site and found a really good one but MSE had shut the thread down because its against the rules to discuss/advise on medication etc- apparently we shouldn't be giving medical advice to anyone- hope they don't see our discussions like that, but just thought I'd let you all know- it would be a disaster for me if this thread got stopped, its about the only thing that keeps me sober and I couldn't bear it if I couldn't log on everyday and see how we all getting on!?

Had a freind come round today, shes really struggling- 2 half bottles of vodka a day most days, 2 wine if she needs to keep herself together for the following day- had a big cry when she left, I know the road she will need to follow and I want to support her and agreed to go with her to her GP, its just the pity of it that gets to me- how do clever sensitive caring people get into such a state and it has to get this bad before they can get help? She was reluctant to go to doctors at first because she was worried about gossip, but I told her everyone already knows you've got a drink problem, people have been talking about it for ages, they've just not been brave enough to tackle you about it- I hate gossips, they love the drama of talking about someone whose really struggling, but they don't do much to help, even though we all know its only ourselves who can help.

Sorry- rant over- but I just get cross sometimes.

Tentatively, tentatively. I took the Kudzo....and so far shhhhh sooooooooooo far, i haven't had a drink. I do feel itchy all over though. Is there a connection?
  • E - you must have one of the biggest hearts I have ever heard anyone have - x

Hello all-- whoo hoooo I will have made my target this month (purse locked at work) but tbh tonight I am just not thinking about having a drink - until I switched on the computer I hadn't thought of it at all. (Although I had locked my purse at work though - so that tells you something eh??)

Before my slight blip (last wed night) I was actually starting to feel kinda OK - walking dog to work as well and even drinkingn lots of water

Birthday this week so am hoping won't slip up a bit - trying first off to not drink at home followed by trying to not drink much when out - cos it seems to lead to me drinking at home and vice versa. I think to be honest I need to give up completely as I don't seem to have that 'stop' mechanism some folks have - but I need to come to terms with that step as its a biggie and not one to be taken on flippantly. (for me)

Avoiding the stuff is however difficult - planes, birthdays, lunchtime, trains - they serve the stuff everywhere - and considering where you can't smoke now it does seem a bit odd to then buy and consume alcohol everywhere!!

SO thanks you lot - before this thread - AFD's in 10 or so years 0 - didn't think I could even do one!

Annie - waves hello and sorry no idea is the answer - maybe google it?
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

Please put me down for 10 AFD's HS :j:D I have now reached my April target and haven't even given alcohol a moments thought tonight :j:D

I want to finish off the month AF to get to 13 - then that will be 30 days total with last months first attempt at the challenge - equivalent to one whole month AF for the first time in ages :j:D

Not as good as good as last month but then I did go on holiday for a week this month and I am allowing myself to drink when on holiday, so not beating myself up over it

Now working out what target to go for in May. Hubby and I only work term time and it is half term in May and I am not sure what we are doing yet, so think I will air on the cautious side ;)

Hope everyone is ok tonight xx

    Hi everyone :hello:

Firstly I would like to say: Thankyou for the get well messages, I have been sooooo poorley and still not a hundred percent. But at least I feel like logging online :D I gotta tell you I felt so ill I didn't even want or feel like speaking to my Ds, (now thats being ill).

But I am hoping to be back to full fitness soon in time for my May scoring?

Now as you all know I was giving much thought to May and me being ill has kind of scuppered things a little. As I wanted to have all your thoughts earlier than this.

Hey ho onwards and upwards as they say. Bear with me and please read to the end. :D

Now my first idea was the: ALCOHOL FREE MAY CHARITY BALL, where I was thinking we could all nominate a charity close to our hearts and donate a nominal fee for every day we didn't drink, members who don't normally participate could of sponsered another member? Payment could of been in goods donated, time or money. But after having a chat with my very good friend Ntc (she is a star you know ;)) I have since reconsidered as this is a debt free board and I know many of us are struggling.

SO onto my 2nd idea :D

How do you all feel about the: ALCOHOL FREE MAY WELL BEING CHALLENGE TO BE A BETTER ME?

I am proposing that in the month of May we all try to improve our lives and not by just not drinking alcohol but by doing things to help ourselves feel better. Jo my dear as you can see with your volvic challenge you have inadvertently made a start. Other things could be: walking more, reading, eating more healthier, learning a new hobby, doing something nice for someone else for no reason. Joining a gym, Eselt you too have got a head start there;) I also know a few on here would like to lose a few pounds so losing a little weight. I personally would like to give meditation another go. Fay I know you lead the way in the recycling challenge ;)

In short I feel that if we all try and do just a small change or two then if we start to feel better about ourselves then perhaps staying alcohol free may come as well? The simpler things in life is what we all neglect at times, going for a walk, having a picnic and turning off the telly and having a chat with our families etc costs nothing but how much attention do we pay to the simpler things?

When my son was younger I always banned the tv at meal times and we sat around the table as a family and discussed our day. The bisto advert really gets me when the small child says tonight will be our family night.

Sorry for going off track a little ;)

So my dears can I please have feedback as soon as poss? Btw I will hold an end of month vote where all members will vote on who they think has made the most progress on: BEING A BETTER ME? Not just af but steps made to improve their life.

I just feel if we embrace trying to make our lives a little better then hopefully positivity will shine through. As we all know logging on here keeps us all focused and its great to get the encouragement from the other members as well. We are a great bunch you know ;) and I will cajole, nag, sing??? Whatever it takes to make May a success. Because you guys mean the world to me and I mean that with all my heart.

Are you with me guys? Come on you know it makes sense :D
Lets feel the force, Lurky where are you? I need my obi one kenobi back:D

THERE WILL BE A PRIZE ON OFFER WHICH WILL BE SENT TO THE WINNER ;)

So love n hugs and feedback please guys?

    Budgie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ps I hope this is ok?
Cherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home :)

Sorry you have been so poorly BB but very glad you are feeling better ;)

I am a mod on another forum and I have suggested to some of the other mods there we do a 'lose half a stone in May' challenge :D As you know from my sig. I have already lost 5 stone but still have a bit to go so had already set myself this extra challenge for May.

Maybe some of the others on this thread who are also wanting to lose weight might like to give it a go?? For me, it is all about changing my lifestyle for an all round healthier one and cutting down on alcohol and shifting more weight is my big joint challenge at the moment but I need to kick start my weight loss again.

So, BB, great idea of yours :D I will lose half a stone in May as well as continuing to cut down on the drinking :j
