Dont want you having to start a thread "Giving up/Cutting Down Water" I believe Aqua Anonymous is supposed to work for some but is not for me:D

9th day AF for me today.
I am up to the 4th day in a row AF which is usually when I start to feel physically and emotionally better. The only snag is that tomorrow I have a night out so I am not sure if I will stay AF for it but then the cycle may start again. I shall see.
Well done to everyone.:AHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Good morning all
Well done Jo. Some days seem so hard don't they. Doing it like you did seems really sensible to me. Makes an evening seem much more manageable if you break it up into sections. Well done on resisting though.
Budgie - Piglet LOVED his swimming. And so did I. Am going to apply for A Concession card as this gets you money off swimming etc. Yesterday cost me £8.80 for me and Piglet which I think is extortionate!!. If I fork out for the concession card I can get it cheaper and will be more inclined to take him more often. As for the inhaler.....well...he is NOT taking to it at all. Its a nightmare but one we will have to live with for a while!
HS - 19 for me please!
Its funny, reading what I've written above, I was moaning to Budgie about the cost of taking Piglet Swimming. Yet I wouldn't worry about spending that amount of a weekend on wine. Maybe I need to look at my priorities. Perhaps thats what alcohol does...gets your priorities skewed. Actually, theres no PERHAPS about it. It definately dominates your thinking. Guess thats what we're all trying to change.
Will be AF again today. Got a busy day planned so will probably be too tired tonight to contemplate drinking - housework is really tiring, don't know why I bother with it really :rotfl:
Have good days everyone. ((Hugs)) to all those struggling. Stay strong all of you!!

Thanks to everyone for the hugs and stuff
Enforced AF today, I'd decided I wasn't going to drink as I was going to the PTA meeting tonight, then on the way home decided I would drink as the bell's were deafening, even tried the little quote speech bubble angel/devil thing that was talked about yesterday, but that didn't help. Then I decided instead of buying it on the way home, I'd go get it after the meeting so it was still cold (think I was giving myself a cooling off period!). Finished the meeting at 9.30pm and decided to go straight home as I was missing the Apprentice and only an hour to bedtime anyway and I wouldn't have bought 2 to last me but the full 6 and probably would've got through 4 or 5.
So, AF today
Hope everyone's okay, gotta go watch Hells Kitchen now!
xx
I am glad about that - I hope you can take strength from this episode. You really wanted to drink, but managed not to, and feel better for it.
That's why one day at a time works for me. I can go a day without drinking. I don't know If I can go a lifetime, a year, or even a month. But if I make the decision in the morning not to drink for THIS DAY ONLY, I can live with that. In the early days of my recovery, I would do an hour at a time. I would promise myself I wouldn't drink for one hour only, and then make the decision about the next hour when this hour finished.
That cooling off period you were talking about often helps. You get a bit more perspective on the situation, and also those compulsions to drink can disappear.
Even though you wanted to drink (your motivation) you didn't actually drink (your action) - on the whole we judge people by their actions, not their motivations.

Hi All, well done Jo- tough call but you did it. Congratulations to everyone else too, and for those who are lurking because they've slipped a bit- COME BACK, we miss you.
Chelnomi- glad you are starting to feel there is light at the end of this tunnel, for you and your family. I know your GP can't talk to you about your husband specifically because of confidentiality, but he should be able to signpost you and give you local support information. Its good he's reducing, the more you reduce the less severe withdrawal is when you try and have some AF time. I hope he turns a corner soon and his mood lifts and some of the anxiety and tension you have been feeling as a family goes away.
Miss Piggy- when my 15yr old was little he had inhalors and he wouldn't use them on their own so they gave me a 'spacer' to use and he really liked that because we could mist up the spacer and make it a game to see how much mist he could clear in one puff- I did try putting some vanilla essence in it once to try and make it a nice flavour but he just had a massive coughing fit !?
Good luck today everyone- catch ya later.0
