Hi Miss P - I'm just like that too! I's weird isn't it? I think the sunshine may have something to do with it - like it's a trigger. Alcohol is a weird substance to have an effect like thisfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550

Just a quick one as getting Piglet ready to go swimming. Very excited, bless him. He loves swimming.
HS think I'm up to 18.
The wine bells have been ringing quite a bit for me the last few days and its been hard to resist the urge. How can you go for a long time without alcohol and then suddenly want it? Doesn't make sense to me. Its not as if I'm down or depressed or anything. Feeling very chirpy (lovely sunshine helps!)
Anyway, take care everyone

As RecoveringAlcoholic says, Alcohol is Cunning, Baffling, and Powerful
A lot of our behaviour is hardwired, and alcohol is part of that. Undoing these connections takes a long time0 -
Still on 4/10 days as I drank wine last night. Half a bottle so a bit over 4 units. I was quite pleased with this on balance.
The whole pride comes before a fall thing is worth a mention. I'd found it really easy and sailed through the day before so I was feeling confident. On the way home I called OH and asked if he wanted anything. So I bought him the requested bottle of wine, feeling so strong that I was sure I could say no and watch him drink it without me. That feeling lasted right up until the point I was home and asked if I wanted a glass of wine!
Still, it was half the bottle instead of my usual bottle plus, so that's an improvement.

WBF, well done - that is still cutting down to what you used to drink even if you weren't totally AF yesterdsy. One day at a time :T0

I strangley fancied a beer on the way home from work this morning at 8.30 . I have never had alcohol before mid day - so that was a very strange feeling . Needless to say I didn't have beer on my wheatabix at my second breakfast sitting :rotfl:(I'm a growing 44 year old and I need three lots of breakfast)

hi all-
i'm new here. i have seen this post before and been sort of interested and read a few replys but never poted myself.
i think i could find this beneficial though. i am not sure if i drink a lot or not but i do know that there are loads of mornings after when i just wish i had had 2 or 3 and not the 6 or 7 i ended up having - i would have saved money and not felt terrible the next morning.
i don't tend to drink during the week. maybe a 3-4 units max (often none at all) between monday and thursday. I usually have one night out on the weekend where i may have about 6-7 pints or about a bottle and a half of wine.
i guess i didn't think that was much but now that i write it down it seems worse than i thought..
i used to live in the US and have found since i moved to the UK 5 years ago that most socialising seems to involve alcohol. At least thats my experience. I am hoping to just get some support and maybe ideas how people beat the temptation and what they do for fun instead.

BHB - mmmmm, don't think anyone would recommend pouring beer over weetabix (they certainly don't suggest that in the weetabix week challenge :rotfl:). Mind you, can only improve the taste....weetabix is foul stuff!
Samaki - welcome to the thread. Its fantastic on here. Even if you don't think you are drinking a huge amount you may still find it VERY hard to cut down. The support on here is great. I find it a great help.
GC - very true about the hardwiring. Guess it comes back to the "Constant Vigilence" thing again.
FUAS - I think with me it goes back to the working full time (pre-piglet) days. I used to come home from work and me and OH used to sit out in the sunshine. I always had a glass of wine in my hand. Guess I think thats what I should be doing when its sunny!
