    Thanks guys,
My couple of glasses are big glasses so 2/3 of a bottle every night plus a full bottle on a friday and saturday plus a good couple of whiskys on a fri and Saturday ....

    That's a lot of booze....

the units add up to way more than I should be drinking in a week for a girlie :D I know it could be worse and I could be drinking as much as I did from the age of 14 till when I had my babies:eek:My friends would have half a lager ...I would have tennents super or whisky

I wouldn't compare yourself to what you were like when you were younger - your circumstance is very different

Would like to know what made me that person at such a tender age and why?!
It sounds as if you were like me at that age. I drank more than everyone else. I was alcoholic then, even though I rarely drank.

I seem to have an ingrained thought that fri and sat are drinking days....sunday no way....monday...ah well its been a hard day...tuesday...well its my day off wednesday,Why not? wednesday....well now it is my day off....Thursday,Its nearly the weekend!

If I had a habit like this, I would say it is an addiction. My addiction justifies my drinking.
Good day at work = drink
Bad day at work = drink
    Sunny = drink
    Mserable weather = drink

I know that I could always justify it

Have bought kudzo but not took it yet
    Stroppy xx

Part of you doesn't want to stop drinking, that's why.
  • You are all so good. I'm beginning to think I drink a lot... 10 units per sitting, probably twice a week. Is that too much? I don't know. I feel bad about it though... because I know I'm only drinking to get drunk.

    Hi Everyone.
Still suffering although not as badly. Lemsip is my NBF!

Stroppy, you must keep going. I am really crawling towards my very low target this month due mainly to holidays and I have had many a 'sod it' moment (but resisted somehow). Also, the support is so good on here that I know I have felt a bit 'detached' this month what with being away and things which also hasn't helped. Wineboxes are lethal things. I love them but I definitely drink far more when I can't see. I have a friend who can pour out a small carafe and then put it away!!! So keep in touch stroppy and keep setting targets however small because I'm sure you'll really hate yourself if you give in now.

    6AF please HS.

hi every one was just wondering if anyone could help me with a little (or big)advice.
I think my OH has a drink problem. he has always been a drinker but because he worked it was never a problem.he was always to busy to drink except at weekends, pretty normal really. unfortunately he lost his job and since then hasn't had luck with another and he is really drinking heavily.

It has gotten so bad that he stays up himself till 3/4 in the morning drinking then wants to sleep all day. i have tried stopping him getting near any of our money but he just borrows it and i have to pay it back. (told people not to but they still do). his family don't believe he has a problem as he can go a night without drink(whoopee:mad:)

Last night he drank so much on his own he was sick when he came to bed all over the duvet,he was so out of it he couldn't stand to go to the toilet it is now in the bin. any idea what i could do cant live with him when he is like this.

lol the duvet is in the bin not the toilet.......i knew what i meant.

Depression and alcoholism go hand in hand. He should see a doctor (but he has to be honest)
If he does not want to get better, then there is nothing you can do apart from help him when he wants to get well again.
You need to look after yourself and the kids first and foremost. He is not thinking rationally at the moment, and you have no control over him.
Be safe - what will be, will be. And while that is heartbreaking, it is not your fault and out of your control. Show compassion when necessary.
I'm sorry you are all going though this - it sounds painful for all
  • Morning all:hello:

Not an AF day yesterday. Just fancied a glass of chilled white in the garden. However, instead of a bottle and a half:eek: I only had two glasses. Halfway through the second glass, I couldn't stand the taste and threw it on the roses :rotfl:

For me, that is a huge step forward. Back to AF today then:D

jo1972 my new school is fab! I spent two terms at the school from hell and felt like it was a living nightmare (office manager). Have now gone back to TA'ing but am in charge of a brand-new food tech room. I am in absolute heaven teaching cookery all day long (I was a BBC Masterchef finalist some years ago) across the year groups from Foundation to year 6.

Hope you all have a great day.

P.S. Kudzo works for me - 2 tablets daily at about 3.30 p.m.

    Hi

Well done you on not finishing the wine ! So glad that you are loving your job . It makes such a difference to your life and your drinking .

Were you really on Masterchef ? I really love that programme ( actually I love all cookery programmes ) - I watch all the repeats on the food channel - even though I have watched them 3 times before :rotfl:Am i sad or what . AND before anyone asks I do not have an obsession with food - I just think one day I am going to cook some wonderful meals ( I have lots of cookery books with lovely pictures :rotfl:) . I can cook a little but I am not a Delia or a Nigella more of a " boil in the bag" mum.

Sorry I am rambling - got a bit excited about Masterchef !
    Have a lovely day

    Hi everyone

Woke up this morning all bright eyed and Bushy haired !! Another AFD for me last night ( 12 in total ) . That is day 2 of my 100 day challenge ( only 98 to go !)

I know I can do this . I have just got to stop thinking that because the sun is shining that I am missing out by not drinking. It is also difficult when every TV programme seems to have someone drinking wine . Also all the books I read seem to start and end with someone cracking open a bottle of wine , Perhaps I should change my reading habits . All my books seem to be based on harrased working mothers in search of something. I wonder why I read them !!

Anyway have a lovely day everyone and may the sun shine wherever you are.

40something mum - I read that wrong, I thought you said you had nearly got to 100 days! Good luck with your challenge anyway!!!!

8th day AF for me today.:j

How did you get on with the kudzu Jo?

I am really noticing a big difference myself. (I didn't realise how much I must have been physically craving alcohol and the pressure seems off a lot with taking it.)

Chnelomi - Some great advice on here, I haven't been through the system myself so I'm not sure what the best advice would be. I hope you manage to work something out.

I hope everyone else is okay.:A

I'm going to go and have another big glass of water, I hope I don't drown!

  • 40somethingmum - it was back in the days when Gary Rhodes was hosting. The format was somewhat different then. To make it more of an even playing field, we were all given an 'ingredient' to cook with. The first round we were given white fish and the semi's was 'poultry'. I'm not sure I would attempt the competition in it's current format - can't stand John Torrode for one:rotfl:

Off to school today to recipe-test naan breads and raita ready for my year 5's on Monday. Oh joy:T
