Morning all
I am really glad to read that those of you also trying kudzu are finding it helpful. I liken it to giving birth  - why be in pain when you can have pain killers, so why suffer the awful cravings of giving up/cutting down drinking when there is something readily available from Holland & Barratt that really does work and makes it easier
Another lovely day here. Been looking in my wardrobe and I have lost so much more weight since last summer that I need to go and get myself a few new summery things in a smaller size :j:D I think cutting down on the wine the last 2 months has helped me lose more weight too
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Budgie Happy Belated birthday to your gran what an acheivment
Lillibet that is well impressiveI love cookery programmes too and watching old ones is definitely not sad 40something My favourite has always been Saturday Kitchen, I used to think it was great they started on the wine at 10am:rolleyes::D I stress used to

stroppy, I guess by coming on here and talking about what is happening with your drinking is a part of you starting to get to grips with it IYSWIM. Keep posting and good luck
115K Be careful now, too much water is clearly very dangerous LINK
Dont want you having to start a thread "Giving up/Cutting Down Water" I believe Aqua Anonymous is supposed to work for some but is not for me:D:D
Anyway its 11 for me please HS (great job scoring by the way the stats are fab:T) Looks like it might be another nice day today so may grab an hour in the garden with a book and a summer fruit squash:D

Hi CompletelyLost,
If you are beginning to think you drink a lot then, in my opinion, your ARE drinking to much, otherwise you wouldn't be questioning it .... if you see what I mean.
Also the fact that you are drinking specifically to get drunk implies that you have some underlying problem.
Do you know why you drink to get drunk ?
Anyway - you are in the right place for some support in giving up cutting down , or just not drinking any more
Best Wishes

Wow Masterchef! My favourite programme ever! Have only taken up cooking properly in the last year or so.....maybe one day I'll be good enough
Feeling a bit happier today, think I had a bug yesterday as at about eleven last night I was rolling round on the bathroom floor with chronic stomach ache.Wont say too much more but what followed was a horrible couple of hours!
Anyway as Graeme said ' Thats a lot of booze' so back to the task of cutting down and stop panicking about it
Stroppy xx0 -

In units, it is not too much.
However, I think you need to look at WHY you are drinking to get drunk. What is causing anxiety or stress that drunkenness seems to alleviate?0 -
Wow master chef!- I love that programme, have done ever since Lloyd Grossman used to host it years ago. Lillibet you must be very talented and proud- what did you cook in the final?
Chelnomi- hope you are OK today. Bis is right that everyone has their own individual approach to tackling this, it all depends on what the individual feels works for them and taking a holistic approach- alcoholics need to get their health back, eat properly, regain their mental energy, tackle underlying psychological issues, manage withdrawal and cravings, change their behaviour, change their outlook, deal with guilt/shame, forgive themselves, repair damage done to relationships, change their whole attitude towards our drinking culture, accept sobriety...in other words its incredibly difficult, complicated and can take a long time. But the good news is that their are thousands of successful recovering alcoholics out there, and theres no reason why your husband can't be one of them. If you contact al-anon who support families and freinds of alcoholics they can send you loads of information, and will have support groups in your area- it'll certainly help you prepare for the days ahead, and you'll be ready to get things into place very quickly if/when your husband decides enough is enough. Reading posts like yours makes me hang my head in shame- I can't believe I put my loved ones through this, its only in the cold sober light of day I am beginning to realise the full impact of my behaviour.
Good luck everyone today- I had a weird dream about you lot last night, I dreamt we all posted our 'before' and 'after' alcohol pictures on here and we all looked fab in our after pictures- don't know how I managed to imagine what you all looked like but I did- wonder how accurate I was?!0 -

Splendid, lots of updates. Don't worry stroppy, for quite a few of us this thread & process is about cutting down rather than out altogether, so the AFD scores aren't necessarily measuring all (y)our good work. I can leave you off future updates if you'd find that less stressful. Same goes for anybody else too - it's supposed to be useful and motivating, not a disincentive, so just let me know. dotstar I've assumed you made it AF yesterday, hope so.

Thanks mate. I haven't found it as much of a palaver as I thought I would, it pays to have a system doesn't it, I'm sure you did too. You're on 68.75% of your target. Hell, let's call it 69%.
Lovely cycle into work in the sunshine today, marred only slightly by being run off the road by an enormous escorted motorcade. I did wonder why that police motorcyclist was shouting and waving at me!
ld v impressed by masterchef appearance. Shame you weren't on with Gregg the Egg. My personal favourite food programme is the rather cringe-making 'Come Dine With Me' although it's not really for the food.
HS...nothing to see here...0 -

don't dwell on it though...remember yes, dwell no...I look back and it helps to remind me but I'm putting my energy into the future, not the past...I can change the future.
don't feed any guilt you have lurking around, use it as a spur to greater things. we got through it for a reason.
take care everyone. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Good morning everyone and welcome to newcomers.
Just a quick one as getting Piglet ready to go swimming. Very excited, bless him. He loves swimming.
HS think I'm up to 18.
The wine bells have been ringing quite a bit for me the last few days and its been hard to resist the urge. How can you go for a long time without alcohol and then suddenly want it? Doesn't make sense to me. Its not as if I'm down or depressed or anything. Feeling very chirpy (lovely sunshine helps!)
Anyway, take care everyone
Miss P
