Hello again, apologies for not posting sooner last few days have been tricky to say the least!!

Thank you so much for welcoming me back, you are a wonderful bunch of poeple :A

Well I have not been AF this week and have just worked out my total units so far.....54 that is so awful, how on earth have I got into this state???

I have just spent a good few hours reading back through the post, they are so insperational and honest, it made me realise that although this is in my 'real' life a lonely and shamful battle on here I can be amongst people that understand and support each other :D

So to be positive I am going to keep myself busy today I have an essay to write and am home alone this evening so will need some company to keep me on the straight and narrow please :o

Hope everyone has a lovely day,

    Mari x

Blimey, nearly 100 posts since I posted the last list yesterday, you lot have been busy!

Well done for getting off the mark lillibet dripping, I bet you feel fab today. Good luck for the new job by the way. Don't worry dotty, see how you go over the weekend.

Have somehow managed to get to 4AFDs in a row, not bad considering that my flatmate is a drinker with a v stressful job who 'relaxes' most evenings after work with a glass or two of red (often my downfall) and always wants me to join her, my best friend who I spend a lot of time with is struggling with drink too and the putative bloke is a bit of a boozer and disapproves when I don't join him . And none of them know that I'm doing this challenge. Am likely to have a few tonight tho', and probably again tomorrow with the FA Cup semis :footie: (Come on Arsenal!!) leaving me precisely 1 day 'spare' for the rest of the month. Hmmm...

For those interested in kudzu, I looked up "kudzu and alcohol" on pubmed (database of 'proper' medical articles) and found this article plus also see the related articles so there does seem to be some scientific basis behind its reported efficacy.

p.s. Am currently reading 'Liver' by Will Self. Yikes.

Thanks for the links on kudzu HS :D:T It certainly works for me :j

Awww gawd, I am burying my head in the sand about reading Liver  That is one reason I wanted to cut down as I was terrified of liver damage :o

    A sheepish hello from me:o
I've yet to do 1 AFD, went out for a couple of drinks last night - got home 9hours later! BUT and its a big but, didn't rush my drinks even though people were buying me drinks (its my birthday today) and can remember the majority of night as well. :D I don't dare count the units though.
The next problem is i'm supposed to be out tonight, and i don't feel like it but i don't want to let my friend down, whilst he's looking forward to going out, i know i can't go out and not drink, it's not in my genes!!! And i'm broke, its been a very expensive month, all gone on alcohol. I think i'll phone my friend and grovel to change the night out, do some house work and have a nice quiet night with a healthy tea (not a take away)
  • Many unaware of alcohol calories: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8002991.stm

"Four in 10 did not know a glass of wine has the same calories (120) as a slice of cake, or that a pint of lager and a small sausage roll have 170 each.....the Department of Health carried out research showing a regular beer drinker, who downed five pints a week or 250 over the course of a year, packed away the same number of calories as someone eating 221 doughnuts over the space of 12 months"

Anybody else underwhelmed by this astounding 'research'? What kind of poxy cake has only 120 calories anyway? Actually, I'd much rather have a glass of wine and a pint of lager than a cake and a sausage roll

Hi maz123 :hello:. Happy Birthday! Have a good evening, whatever you decide.
