That's thrown a spanner in the works .....
Just been into see my counsellor.
My counsellor wants me to do reduction therapy ...

I don't know what to advise really. Part of me would say "go with what the expert is saying", and the other part isn't.

Addiction is a weird thing. Ask me four years ago if I could give up ciggies, and I would have said no. Every time I 'quit', I was crawling the walls within a couple of hours.

However after reading the 'EasyWay' quit-smoking book, I quit them in a matter of seconds. No pangs, no cravings, no withdrawals. At the risk of being shouted down I would now argue that there is no such thing as physical addiction - it's all mental. But that's something each of us has got to realise ourselves. Without flicking the mental switch (or realising there is one there), physical addiction is completely real and a real hurdle.
This is sounding a bit holier-than-thou isn't it.

I'm thinking back to all the 'expert' advice I received when I was trying to quit smoking and although the intentions were good it seemed to just draw out the process uneccesarily. But at the same time I acknowledge that I only have my own experiences to refer to...while an expert has a lot more to draw on.

just reporting in to say that yesterday was an AF day so now up to 2/5, today should be the same back to work today and then have a tutorial tonight so wont be home until after 9 and they way I feel at the moment it will be straight to bed.

GreyPilgrim - interested to read that you are giving up meat will be interested to see how you get on, I am intending to cut out red meat once the freeezer is empty and have more veggie meals however having never really cooked veggie before I may be asking for some receipes..

No problem mate, but my methods usually consist of "throw it in a pan and stir it"

I've heard about people like you; there's probably a website to cater for your imaginings.

Am just passing thro en route to the telly (I'm a veggie - I veg out all evening), being a bit previous & updating my sig for today as cannot get online tomorrow morning, & am now "safe" for today, so Lurky pls put me down tomorrow as 4/6, ta.

BHB - am also tending towards GP opinion (that book got me off the cigs also 4 yrs ago but doesn't work at all for the booze) about stringing it out longer than need be, but then again as Jo said.....actually, I'm going to sit firmly on the fence on this one!

Hope all have had a good day, see you toorrow x

aaaarrgghh tried to post this 3 times today and each time its frozen and not let me.
hope everyone has had a good day. i am planning a horlicks night tonight (run out of hot choc)
miamoo, what is the paul mckenna cd called? i am going to look it up and give it a go. anything has to be worth a shot. i am exhausted. i ve been snapping at LO all day and its not fair.
its v tempting to have the "one" to knock myself out but none in the house, no car, LO in bed and minus 100 or whatever outside, so i would say i am pretty much home and dry (so to speak!) tonight.
BHM, i dont know you or your situation or your counsellors take so i dont think i should advice. everyone is so different, i just think its brilliant that everyone on here has recogised a problem whether it be cutting down or cutting out at least we are addressing it. which is a lot more than can be said of a lot of people i know.....
    lots of love
    xxx
    eselt.....where are you???
    :D
