    Hi everyone

Thanks to you all for the warm welcome you gave to me when I jumped aboard the wagon last night.

Day 1 - so far so good - I have not bought any alcohol !! The wine in supermarket at lunchtime was waving to me but I managed to ignore it.

I know that I really my mindset to crack this thing . There is a saying - "change your mind change your life" but it is easier said than done.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon and instead of thinking I wish I was in the garden enjoying this weather I was thinking - I wish I was in the garden enjoying a glass of wine !!

Anyway I am determined to succeed :

I need to save money ( I am massively in debt )

I need to lose weight ( About a stone)

I need to be a more patient wife and mother

    Good luck tonight

Hello, can I jump in here please? I used to post last summertime but kind of fell out of the MSE habit....

Anyway, I'm back and my drinking has crept up and up, I find myself drinking every night and I just don't takeit so well now - physically it affects me more than ever, so...time to cut back.

I like the idea of setting a target number of alcohol free days so can I start with 15 please?

Looking forward to getting back on track and catching up with the thread.

Lilibet, please don't be upset - it's day 1. I did my first challenge in March but had a drink on the 1st March and felt so cross with myself I made sure I didn't drink on the 2nd March!!! I went on to have 17 AFD in March - more than the whole of last year. So don't despair - start over tomorrow :D

Thank you BB - hubby has had a lovely birthday and all the family have just left. I could have had a drink, but decided not to - mainly as I know I will be drinking most evenings next week when we are away, so I managed to refrain and keep up my no drinking during the week [unless I am on holiday;) ].I feel quite chuffed at that though :D :j

So........1/10 AFD for me please happyshopper :j

Hope all is well with everyone else xx

    Just heard this song:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG2zyeVRcbs

I have selected a couple of verses which I think say how many of us feel........

    I can almost see it
    That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
    You’ll never reach it,
    Every step I’m taking,
    Every move I make feels
    Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
    Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
    It’s the climb

    The struggles I’m facing,
    The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they might knock me down but
    No I’m not breaking
    I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
    Just got to keep going
    And I,
    I got to be strong
    Just keep pushing on,

Remember it is not how fast anyone gets there, it is about the journey that we set upon, it is about:
    KEEPING THE FAITH.

TO ALL MY VERY DEAR FRIENDS JUST BE STRONG AND PLEASE KEEP THE FAITH THAT YOU CAN DO THIS.

AND YOU ARE DOING THIS FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS AND FOR THE BETTER PERSON THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE.

    GOD BLESS
    BUDGIE XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi all- just wrote a really long post and lost it- said I didn't have permission, grrrr. Anyway thankyou so much NTC, stirling job and thankyou happyshopper for starting the new month- can I be included please? Keeps me on track- I know I'm not out of the woods yet and you lot are my security blanket.

Just a quick note on the people who suffer from anxiety and panic, I found I was drinking to get rid of these symptoms but actually alcohol withdrawal was causing them- 3 days with no drink, eating better, taking some vitamins- panic and anxiety virtually disappeared. I think you've gotta get the alcohol out of the equation and see whats left- chicken and egg I know, I started drinking to try and control my lack of confidence and anxiety in social situations so its hard to separate this. Try it though guys, reduce the alcohol (don't give up abruptly if you are a heavy drinker), eat, take your Vit B- can almost guarantee anxiety/panic will reduce.

Best of luck everyone- new month and all that, suns coming out- welcome new people, plenty of room here, and lots of support, and we don't judge!
