No probs!! The answer is about as many as I could lay my hands on- when I had money it was about 2 bottles of vodka a day, when I was skint about 6 litres of cider- I used to wake up at 4.00- try really hard to keep my first drink of the day down, throw up everywhere, drink some more and try and keep it down, drink teaspoons of milk so I could get enough energy to get to the shop (opposite) collapse on sofa and start watching Jeremy Kyle, drink myself unconscious and wake up and start the whole cycle again.

I did used to have benders like that every weekend and sometimes during the week at one point. I used to wake up from falling asleep drunk and look at the clock and not know if it was 7am or 7pm.:o

Well I did make my target this month but only just! I went to a supermarket outside my local area today and found myself in the booze aisle picking up bottles of wine and beer. I finally put them back and bought some fizzy drink and lots of junk food instead.

Hope you are all having a fine evening.:A

115K, well done for putting the booze back, that's far more than I'd be able to do if I was already in the aisle!!

Welcome 40something, good luck with your challenge, keep us updated :D

On the AF wagon on the last day of the AFM challenge, managed 22/31 so not too bad but screwed up big time at the end :( never mind, onwards and upwards....going to have to say 30/30 for AFA although it's my birthday in April, plus was 'meant' to be going to an end of term work do at the pub on Friday  I hate missing out on the fun but don't think I can go and not drink right now...too soon..

  • OK here are the names I have so far (I think). Let me know if any omissions, corrections etc. I haven't included the long-term non-drinkers (eselt, MP etc.) but please let me know if you want to be on the list. I didn't want to assume….
I'll make it a bit prettier tomorrow, promise.

  • Hi everyone.
Thank you all for your kind wishes and lovely welcome! I really do want to do this now.
I was aiming for my first AFD in ages. I will admit to having a small brandy and coke and a glass of wine with dinner BUT it is nowhere near the bottle - bottle and a half I normally drink each evening, so I am quite proud of myself. One bonus was that instead of falling asleep snoring by 8.00 p.m. I have managed to tidy up the kitchen, prepare lunchboxes for tomorrow, swept the back patio, got the chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner, ironed my bedlinen and am still awake at 9.00 p.m. Unheard of for me!!!!
I am now totally out of alcohol in the house. The big challenge tomorrow is not to buy the 2 for £5 offer in the local newsagents on the way home. I will admit to feeling very panicky about there not being any wine in the house. Is this normal?

Here's hoping for the best night's sleep for a long, long while and waking refreshed.

    Wish me luck
    x

Can you put me down for 10 days in April please

Congratulations on such an achievement :T :T :T

Yes, it's perfectly normal to feel panicky about having no alcohol in the house, if it's something you are used to having in the house all of the time. Kinda like imagine having a 'friend' popping round every night of the week for years and years and suddenly they don't show, obviously you're gonna think, where the hell are they  :rotfl:

I hope you have a good night's sleep, you probably will as you've had a couple of drinks. I will say though that when you do have a totally AF day or 2 you might notice a slight change in sleeping patterns and vivid dreams for a week or so, it's not a bad thing, just means the mind is working rather than being blacked out!! Congrats again :)

    xx
