Hi BB, feeling better at last thank you! After 7 weeks and 2 accidents the pain is changing now still v. achy but less at long long last! :j

Anyway, I've totted up my AFD in 09 to 48/82  More than 50% of the days AF. Makes me realise how many days I was drinking 4-5 days a week would have added up to probably make it less than 25% AFD

I feel I have combatted my drinking when alone trigger after 3 months of doing this challenge. Before I started the challenge this was my biggest trigger of all and I found it very difficult during the first couple of months. This month it has got a bit easier and I think I'm on the road to recovery over this trigger now. Even tho' the wine bells still toll for me I don't give into them so much now - 2 bottles of stella on 1 drinking day last week.

Lets see how this week goes and what it brings. I have a work do on Friday when I usually get r*****ed with my old work colleagues. You know when you have a friend or 2 that push the buttons of your old behaviour and you push theirs too? Well that's what it will be like for me when I usually get hammered, manage to get home somehow and then waste all the weekend with a hangover from hell. In fact it was a few months after my last night out with them that prompted me to join the thread.

    So my options are:
    1. Go and drive - then no chance of drinking and can leave early, come home, go to bed, get up next day as usual.
    2. Travel and the train, return by bus - strong chance of temptation to binge and get p***ed, miss bus, spend loads on a taxi, waste next day...hangover from hell, throw up etc
    3. Don't go, miss meeting up with friends, have a quiet night in and carry on bright eyed the next day
Feel in a bit of a quandry about what to do? Temptation pulls me in to No.2 with the pretence of being in control when I have a massive glass of wine in about 2 mins when out

    Hi Fedup,

So glad you are feeling better at last, you have had such a nightmare the last few weeks.

Just been reading your post about your works do this Friday. Read again what you have written?

It is hard I know to stay af when on a night out, I have suprised myself by doing this. (Never thought I would of had the will power before joining this thread). But do you really want to binge on alcohol, feel ill and spend loads of money getting home, hopefully safely. To feel ill the next day? Just trying to get through the day hoping to feel better whilst feeling dehydrated and crap. Asking yourself why did I do that?

Oh and hoping you have remembered everything you said and did?

Sorry to go on but reading what you have written, the answer is there. My rambling is to myself also :D

But whatever you decide I hope you have a good night?
I also know that sometimes we all need to let off steam at times too.

Sending you a big virtual hug ((()))
    Take care of you

thanks BB - I know what to do with my sensible head on which is on now, but the drinking head may reappear on that day. If I think about it now the drinking head may go away and not be seen on Friday and the AF head may appear or the weaker control head.

BB you are not rambling it is nice to have a supportive thoughtful answer to my post which is much appreciated by me :A

    9AF for me please, ntc.

Unexpectedly off the naughty bench today. I was out for lunch and planned to drink but felt so carp after the weekend I decided to drink fizzy water instead. OH thought it was his birthday, me volunteering to drive, and my friends seemed concerned in case I was ill! While I'm coping OK with planned AF days I seem to drink far too much on the others and it's affecting me more than it ever did. Probably tolerance is lower and my body is missing the huge amounts of water I usually get through on AF nights. I haven't even fancied a drink tonight have felt dehydrated, tired and headachy all day. Hopefully this will act as a deterrent in the longer term. BUT like you fedup, my resolve can disappear with the first glass. I need to hang on to the memory of feeling hungover and use it!

Very quiet on here. Hope all OK.

I think that this is a great thread as it is nice to know that i am not alone with my problem. Yesturday was one off my lowest days ever, have very bad problems with my dd2 who is 16 and has been having problems at school for the last 2 years but that is a loooooooong story, but i am know at the stage where the school are going to fine us as she is not attending, i changed my hours a year ago so i could take her into school, but as soon as i left she buncks off, now she has moved out of the main home and is living with a friend(not happy) so i have no control over her going to school, well to cut a long story short i went to see the school about this , she did say that she would do the work if they sent it home but they have not given me an answer on that yet, they just refered me to social services i have had no dealings with these befor i went to see them but they said it was not there problem but an educational one(mind the lady was very helpful and gave me some contacts to get in touch with).

I am dealing with this problem and trying to sort out my finances which are a mess i am getting there slowly thanks to all the advice on MSE but at times i just want to bury my head and hope it will go away, anyway any help and support with trying to have af days will be much apreciated
