Just having a quick catch-up and read your post, Jo. Poor, poor you (sorry, no pun intended). I can't suggest anything you've probably not thought of yourself but if it helps I'm thinking of you. I think you're amazing, managing to stay AF with all this carp in your life.
Hope everyone else is enjoying this glorious day.0 -
Hi all
last night not so good after all.
I bought the £15 deal for sunday in M and S - including wine...
Now I'm planning lunch at lunchtime on Sunday but don't want to drink in the day - makes me feel rough etc so I knew I wouldn't be having it on Sunday - in the end I had it last night
I must be losing my tolerance because I was awful to my OH, truly awful.
Today I was determined not to drink but them bells started at around 4
I had to go out to get some plain flour for my yorshire puds tomorrow and so the seed was there. I went in the supermarket and was going to buy wine
My resolve wavered as I walked round but I still went to the wine section.
Then I thought about my behaviour last night AND having to fess up on here, plus blowing the challenge.
After much agonising I decided to buy some Kaliber
Problem is they didn't have any!
In the end I bought a special offer on becks 0% 2x6 bottles for £5
Not quite money saving but definately not alcohol
I only had one bottle when I got home but it definately settled the craving
Hoping OH hasn't bought me any wine for Mothers Day
So today looks like an AF for me - bringing my grand total limping up to 5
Goodnight

Remember - structured reduction of alcohol will reduce the risks of the DT's, should you start to sweat, shake, see, hear or feel things that aren't there (auditory, visual and tactile hallucinations) slowly sip an alcoholic beverage until the main effects stop - if you require assistance to stop using alcohol - librium can reduce the chances of siezures and antibuse (once you are stable) can be used as a deterrant to further use.
A psychosocial intervention by your local alcohol team, coupled with a symptamatic community detox will also assist you in stopping your alcohol safely..

Hello WB  knew you wouldn't be able to keep away :rotfl:
Had a complete nightmare this morning, all was fine till the postie turned up. I've changed my car insurance due to me having a 'disagreement' with the old company and now owe them £90 odd quid so have bought a policy from another company who this morning told me that they will cancel my policy if I don't give them my no claims bonus cert but old company won't give it to me unless I pay the £90 which I don't have. Also through the letter box this morning I got a letter from tax credits saying they have stopped paying me because THEY didn't ask me to update my details for 2007-2008 and so may or may not of been paying me too much/too little. Lovely letter, apologising and all that and saying if they owe me they'll pay me and if I owe them I won't have to pay them anything as it's their fault, but I was due to be paid on Monday and now I'm not getting it, hence the car insurance being cancelled and me not being able to get to work
Tax credit have sent me a million page booklet that I have to fill in with information that I can't remember/don't know from back in 2007 and have no idea where I'm gonna get it and I have to send that back to be re-assessed before they'll pay me anything (or not ).
Anyway, never mind just the car insurance, how the hell am I going to pay the childminder for this week and buy food for next week? I don't get paid till Wednesday week and was counting on Monday's tax credit payment to see me through:(:(
ETA: sorry for the ramble, you probably don't want to hear all my woes on a lovely sunny saturday!
Jo - I'd phone them you can do the update over the phone and forget the rancid form. They are a bunch of bleeps to be honest - don't get me started
I got (I kid you not) - a payment back in September of £2678.16 in the bank just out of the blue - nearly fell of chair - phoned them to check I was allowed the money - was assured TWICE that I was - moved it to my savings account.
Turns out WHOOPS again - it was not them who owed me it was me who owed them - they took the then shifted money out of my account (putting me nearly 3K into illegal overdraft) and bank demanded money back.
Now I owe them seemingly the whole lot and they are taking it back monthly - 5 people tell you one thing, 6 people tell you something else - rather than a tax credits system we need one of those one-armed bandits where you pull the arm and see what comes out! Hugs to you. xx
Had half a glass of wine last night so not AF sorry - but brother got me a bottle cos I had been workign so hard outside and I had a couple sips but didnt really fancy it - Kudzo? dunno - but to my surprise ther is an almost full bottle sitting on the kitchen side now ready to be either frozen or tipped down the sink.
SO I am now - on day 16 I think NTC as can't count last night :rotfl:Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Happy mothers say to all you Mums out there
Hope you enjoy a chilled out day...
Another AFD for me NTC so thats 8, moderation going well. Had people to dinner last night and only had three drinks. Didn't want any more than that. Drank water with my wine and switched to coffee early. SO feeling fine today which is good cos I've got to make Mrs rugby coach breakfast in bed before I go off to rugby coaching  Then we're off for an early dinner this afternoon, so it should be a nice day.
But I came down this morning and our freezer is making a racket - its the ice maker. Its been complaining for a few days but it is really sounding bad today so I'm sorting that too. Yes I feel I am an :A today. I wish Mrs RC had done it in the weel but never mind.
See you later

Ugghhh!
I have a small hangover this morning. And to be honest I'm really happy about it. I've not really updated much here simply because I havn't had time. I thought I would update you on this though. I have been mostly AF for this month. Prior to this I was drinking 8-10 units most nights. Havn't had what I would call a hangover in 5 years except for the occasional big night out 20+ units which might give me what I have this morning. Bit of a headache and feeling slightly sick.
Last night I drank 9 units (MrsM brought some booze at the supermarket last night and as I've not has a drink in two weeks I thought I would join her) And we were watching the rugby when I got in from work too :j good result for England and cracking match between Ireland and Wales. :j
Anyway long and short of it is If I'm getting a minor hangover on what I was drinking practicaly everyday that makes me happy. It means my system is slowly getting back towards normal.
Hope everyone has a lovely day especially the mothers among us. It's nice and sunny so if you're outside today enjoying the sun spare a thought for of those of us who will be inside working technical support with a (slightly) sore head. Hope the weather holds up. If it does I think I'll head to the beach for a walk after work.
