Hope all our thread mums have a lovely day

Jo hope you have managed to sort something out, its shocking that they can leave people in such dire straits. If you lived anywhere need here you would be very welcome to come to dinner here. Anyway let us know how you are hun

Winebox I know you are finding this tough but at least you have your 4 in which is better than last month and there is still 10 opportunities left,:D keep trying mate.

I am cooking a very posh meal today to be accompanied by some very posh wine from my folks. At that price we wont be drinking in excess at all plus the fact this meal will involve me keeping a clear head, why do I suggest these things when the local carvery will do a very nice meal for a tenner:rolleyes: :D Still I know my mum will love it so its worth it.

So sad to hear the news about Jade Goody this morning. At least now she is out of pain.

Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans xx

Morning all, just popping in before I start Mother's Day lunch

Had 2 small bottles of stella last night and it tasted like pop rather than alcohol for some reason  Never used to taste like this

Still on 14 days for now, 10 days left to make another 10 AF days so looks like 10 AFD at best and maybe 9 at worst! No alcohol today so only on drinking day this week :j Will be on 15 AFD by the end of today :j

HAve a good day everyone and hope you are all ok, will pop in tonight to see how you are all doing!

I was sorry to see the news about Jade Goody and I probably shouldn't say this but the headlines saying that she "has lost her battle with cancer" are irritating me far more than they should. I think she has probably saved a lot of suffering for others through publicising her illness and encouraging us to be mor aware of the problems that we may face. However I'm not sure she ever really stood a chance of beating the cancer so it's unfair in so many ways to say she lost the battle. I think it's idea of losing a game that you can't win that gets me. In the same way that you can't win against alcohol, all you can do is redefine the rules until you can achieve what you want.

    Rest in peace Jade.

I think it is good that more media attention has been given to cervical cancer as it has generally been overlooked. Poor Jade and her family.

I'm not AF today but I am hoping to be for the rest of next week but we shall see.

Happy Mother's Day to the Mum's out there.

    Well done everyone.:A

Hi all- just got back from my mothers day lunch- table went a bit quiet when they put a complimentary glass of wine in front of me but I just gave it to my sister and carried on- why do people just assume because there is some sort of celebration we will be drinking?

Poor Jade Goodie, absolutely tragic news, particularly for those lovely boys on mothers day- I think women everywhere who have got a bit complacent about going for screening will sit up and take notice, I thought she was so dignified towards the end and worried for her little ones future, I feel really guilty about thinking she was a berk when she first appeared on BB.

Hope everyone is OK out there today- hi to all the mums- have a great day.

    Happy Mother's day everyone :D

Firstly just wanted to say how sad the news is that Jade Goody has passed away. Eselt I agree how sad for her boys that it is on Mothers Day, Lets hope now that her family are left to grieve in peace. But they can all feel proud that she has raised awareness of cervical cancer, I admire her for that and also for providing for her boys, she clearly loved them very, very much.

Onto a happier note I went out last night to a restuarant to celebrate my birthday early, (can't do next weekend as my Ds comes home, and believe me nothing comes before that :-) I stayed af again and had Lemonade and lime, no ginger beer AGAIN. Think I might start a campaign. So BsNtc I will be on 22 by the end of today please, so my dear enjoy your posh meal and wine, I hope your Mum appreciates all your hard work? Love n Hugs. xxxxx

Jo so sorry to hear of your nightmare, I do hope that it gets sorted for you quickly? As Fay says if you can update over the phone then that will save time. I am going through a nightmare at the moment with N Power but I won't go into it as it stresses me out. I have been their customer for 25 years (when they were Meb b4). Turns out my meter is not registered to me, wrong supply no, account closed when my neighbour left and now I am with British Gas???? Never asked to swap at all, they have said they will compensate me but I have letter after letter with them making mistake after mistake. Sorry to ramble but it is so frustrating that in life as you with your tax credits that people basically make a mess and we are left with the consequences. So I do hope you can make progress tomorrow?

Hugs to everyone else, I will try and catch up properly later?
    Enjoy Mothers Day.
    Love n hugs Budgie, xxxxxxx

Sorry BsNtc meant to say loved the Mothers Day icon :-)
Cherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home :)

Love to all mums amongst my virtual friends on Mothers' Day.

I haven't waited for bells today and have just had an early glass. OH looked aghast that I was starting before 6 but my reasoning was that if I'd gone out for a Mothers' Day lunch I'd have had a drink hours ago. He then felt really bad as he'd planned nothing with DDs. DD1 has been round and DD2 phoned as she's out for the day with her MIL. I had breakfast in bed but I do every day. My OH is a super sweetie.:A

I had to come clean and own up that I didn't want to go out as many restaurants give poor service and poor food today and I was out to lunch last Sunday and last Thursday.Just having a quick catch-up before starting cooking.

Mr Muttley, I know where you're coming from with the hangovers. I felt dreadful yesterday, massively dehydrated and feeling yukk (sp?) on the same amount of wine that I've driven to work on for years and years. And fed-up, I find that after some AF days, wine I'd normally lap up tastes pretty dreadful. I have to make 4 more days for my target which theoretically I could do by Thursday. That's what I'd like because if I manage anything next week (30/31st) it would be a bonus. I''m sharing this to help push myself!

    P.S. Hope you're OK Jo

    Evening all

Happy mothers Day to all us Mothers on here!

Have been out for the day today. Popped to see Mum this morning and then OH took me, little one and step-daughter to Southsea for the day. Had a nice picnic, watched hovercraft come in and out, played on the pebbles etc. It was lovely.

Normally I would finish a day like that off with a bottle of wine in the evening. Then I'd have all the washing up etc from the day out to do tomorrow. However, tonight washing up all done and I am happily looking through the photo's on the computer that we took today. Could get used to this non-alcohol life. However, once I'm off these antibiotics I wonder if I will resist? I certainly hope so.

News about Jade is so tragic. I cannot honestly say she was a person I particularly liked but I have nothing but admiration for how she dealt with the illness and how she has ensured her childrens future. She certainly seemed to be a wonderful mother, and its very poignant that she died on mothers day. Rest in peace Jade.

Well, thats 20 for me please NTC. March nearly over - I can't believe it!!!

    Miss P

    Alcohol kills people.
And while Jade didn't die of alcoholism, we can feel the despair of her friends and family about losing a loved one before their time.

I don't want my kids to lose me to a disease like alcoholism. That makes me determined not to drink, and focuses my efforts.
