  • Hi everyone,

Finally fixed the faulty engine and got off the grid, please put me down for my first AFD in March as I'm over the wine bells stage tonight now I think - 1/16 for me NTC.

Jon, good luck with setting a March target. There are 20 days left this month counting tomorrow.

Jo, I read your post with interest. And had so much catching up to do I didn't have to wait as long as some people for your revelation! I seem to have a rebellious thing which kicks in, like I suddenly feel that I have to prove that nobody can stop me getting drunk if I want to. Kind of a you can't stop me so nar nar childish response.

I'm hoping to sleep well tonight, g'night folks.

Today's proved surprisingly difficult. I went to a posh tea party thing this afternoon, thought it'd be completely safe but it was so posh it started with a glass of bubbly! I REFUSED.:T My friend assumed it was because I was driving BUT I told her about my AF days and how just one small glass would stop me being AF. She said she admired me for sticking to my resolve. It was slightly hollow as she isn't a friend who has any idea how much I drink (I mean used to drink) but it made me feel good. I didn't tell he about my target or my adventures in cyberspace with my NBFs that's my secret!

Jon, unlike you, I went to the footie tonight and it was such nail biting stuff. I almost gave in. BUT I decided to overdose on Kudzu (3 today) instead and have a big glass of juice. I'm now having a mug of choccy before a night's sleep (hopefully).

    5AF for me please, ntc.

I am very very much like this, I remember telling the counsellor last year how rebellious I was with drinking and he said 'yeah but who are you rebelling against?'. When I thought about it, I realised that I'm not gaining anything by rebelling cos it doesn't affect anyone else except my emotional state, my finances and most of all, my liver!!

I've been trying to read the AC book as much as I can, bit difficult as I work in a close environment with my colleagues and I don't want them saying 'oooooh, you're reading a book! What is it?? What is it???!' then me saying summat like, 'oh, I'm just reading it for a friend' Plus I drive to work so obviously find it difficult reading it then! Maybe I'll pop out at lunchtime and sit in the car and have a read!

    Gotta dash

Feeling really positive about very nearly achieving my [low] total this month. No, I am not going to achieve it - I am going to exceed it!! I didn't think I would manage even 1 AF day at the beginning so can't believe I have actually managed 5 so far :D

Next month won't be so good - have social occasions with close family on weekdays and will have a drink then, plus I am going away for a week which will mean eating out - bottles of wine - and it will be hubbys birthday. One hotel includes a bottle of bubbly on arrival - I am not going to say no!!!! Apart from the first and last nights the other nights we are staying 'free' using up our air miles on a hotel in lovely lovely Edinburgh. Thank goodness I don't drink whisky!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Gave in last night and had a few drinks.:o Feel awful this morning now. Got period pain and a headache as well. Just want to go back to bed. Well, at least it will put me off drinking for the next few days. What awful stuff alcohol really is.

Speaking from my perspective, the bottle isn't the problem.
    I am the problem

I have an allergy to alcohol, as it sets off a craving which most people don't get. When I start drinking, i don't want to stop. In fact I cannot stop. This is why I am alcoholic.

Try reading it like me when you deposit yourself in bed and the DD who 'just happens to want to keep me company tonight' keeps asking - what you reading mum!!!!!!!

I have it nestled inside a 'recycling wastemanagement' book:rotfl:

Wasn't AF last night again - grrr - no idea why - only opened a bottle of wine at 11pm (am I stupid - clearly yes).

My brother is back and I am finding it hard to have someone just there in my space.

When he leaves of course I will blame the fact that I am lonely for drinking wine:rotfl:

GC I think you are right we are the problem not the wine.

So sorry NTC - on the devil side today
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

    Hi all,
Hi Jo lots of people relating to your post. I think OH's most frequent comment to me is "you do worry about some stuff....". If there's nothing for me to fret about I'll find something. My mum always said I take after Dad in that respect! And as for the drivng.....I'm so glad it's not just me. Driving somewhere new does my head in more than almost anything else in the world! I have an overnight do at the end of this month, somewhere I've not been before, & the hostess has already assured me it's only 26 miles from my house & sent me the AA routefinder thingy cos she knows I'm likely to bottle it! Guests are being asked to make a financial contribution as it's a rented house v v expensive & I've told OH I'll pay for him 'cos if he goes he'll have to drive as we won't all fit in my little car. This means I am paying.......£50 for 2 dogs to have a night out (OH refuses to leave his behind) on top of whatever it'll be for me OH & DD but that's how desperate I am not to have to drive there. I'd probably enjoy it more if I left OH behind :rotfl: Like you, I'm a good & confident driver once on the road, it's the prospect of it....

NTC you OK a bit quiet last couple of days?

    WBF :T

Don't know why I'm even thinking about forking out £££££s for OH as we had huge row last night so am really fed up, as in REALLY fed up today. I've got to speak to him about above do as they want to know numbers otherwise I wouldn't blo0dy bother.

And erm, still on 3 but determined to have a couple of AFs before the weekend.

I'll go off & wallow in it!
