That's very sad BB, I hope your daughter is alright?
The people from head office came to get a statement from the people concerned and she was very upset that day having to tell them what happened. She's a lot better now and I hope thats the end of it and they don't need to speak to her again. Whether they give him the sack or not is up to them.
I haven't had a drink since Saturday and theres a bottle of vodka in the fridge that keeps looking at me. However, the thought of drinking it is making me feel sick so thats good!;)0 -

Hi NTC- yep I saw that cancer scare on the news this morning- such a small amount of alcohol too- I think they said just one drink a day increases risk for women? Bit confusing as I seem to remember some research a couple of years ago going on about the health benefits of drinking a glass of red wine a day? When I see the amount of alcohol some young women can put away these days I shudder to think what they are storing up for the future.0

Hi all- well done everyone, esp. Jo- just a couple more days to go.
GC- I love your posts, they always make me think. I've wrestled with the idea that alcoholism is a disease, but at the end of the day (and its just the way I look at it) I feel if I think of it as a disease I can absolve any responsibility, it makes alcoholism seem passive and something that just happens to people and somehow none of the mess I got into was my fault- but deep down I do know it was my fault, and my biggest failing was arrogance- I had all the warnings, I read all the research, I went to doctors, my friends and family offered advice, but I thought I could control it, I thought it would never happen to me and that people who let themselves be consumed by alcohol were weak and hopeless, and I thought I was stronger than that. Before I became physically dependant I did have the chance to get my drinking under control but I blew it, and then the choice was gone and I was a full blown alcoholic. I see alcoholism as a behaviour, one that I've now stopped- it upsets me more to think that I'll be an alcoholic forever, than never having another drink does to be honest. The paradox of this all is that you can only really analyse alcoholism in hindsight, and even then it still makes no sense to me!
Hope everyone is OK today- I am going to spend today living my life- its about bloody time.
Great post. Very articulate0 -
Just had a thought, alcohol has not passed my lips for 82 hours so I have no alcohol in my body

Good morning all!
Feeling much brighter today. Turns out I had a bug, not a reaction to pills doc gave me. Was so pleased. Dad wasn't though....he now has the bug
This thread has moved quickly the last couple of days...glad little ones at nursery so I can sit with a coffee and catch up!
Jo1972 - well done! Nice knowing your body is alcohol free??
Beachbeth - hope your daughter is uk. Must have been upsetting for her.
Eselt - You're right. Its quite scary seeing what young girls can drink without seemingly suffering for it (at the moment). Some girls at work drink like this and have no concept of what they might be doing to themselves. Says me who a little while ago thought nothing of downing a bottle and a half to two bottles of wine....
Fay - Well done on only having the one glass!
Was wondering to myself though if we replace alcohol with other not so good things? Not drinking the last few days I've found myself drinking loads of pepsi. Full sugar variety. Got to stop (Paul McKenna wouldn't approve :rotfl: ) or my teeth will drop out!!! Never been one for sugary drinks before. Very odd. Oh..and coffee. Always liked coffee strong so MUST think about getting decaffienated (sp?)
Anyway, enough waffling from me. Can't you tell I don't have a three year old harassing me!?:D
