Hi everyone,
Just a quick post, hope everyone is ok?
I am not feeling tickety boo to be honest, sore throat etc.
But Winebox I am still af so thats a plus, 25 for me please, thanks for updating, hugs xxxx
I really am unsure of the March target? To be honest I didn't think I would still be alcohol free and I am worried that if I do have a drink I will fall back into my old pattern? I know that it comes down to self moderation but is it worth trying a drink or not? As we know from experience it is easy to fall into previous patterns, not so easy to get out.
Sorry for the rambling, but not sure of the next Budgie step.
What are everyone else's thoughts for March?
Thanks and take care, Budgie xxxxxxxxxxCherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home

Well, whether it's all in the mind or not I have had one whole less drink this evening :j :j :j  I have had 2 glasses of wine instead of 3
My 'danger period' is from starting to cook dinner until dinner has been eaten [which with my hubbys hours can be anything up to about 9pm]
From what I have read about Kudzu it is given for a week or so before taking any real affect so I am not expecting great things for a week yet, especially on day 1 :rotfl: :rotfl: .
I honestly couldn't care less if it's 'all in the mind' or not - if it works for me then that has to be good, doesn't it?
TBH honest, I didn't really 'need' the last half a glass of wine with dinner either so I reckon I need to get some smaller glasses too and see if that works:rolleyes:
Now all I am interested in drinking is a mug of cocoa later :rotfl: so I know I am over my cravings for tonight, Hurrah!! :j
Well, except for my chocolate craving............but that's another story!0 -
Hi guys
Jo - spooky just figured that's what you looked like - wierd eh.
Someone else over on diary said I sounded like Pippi Longstocking - had me PMSL!!
Everyone on hear doing so good - dunno why I caved in last night, went to School parents night and then straight to the co-op for 'treats' he got choccy - I just shoved in a bottle of wine - felt myself in the danger zone I have to say you guys nearly got a virtual text saying arghghghggh tell me to shut off the wine bells..
Alot ALOT of effort to shove it down the sink - anyway - I always seem to get to 3 days or so AF then something caves?
Was going to pop out but haven't - its vile outside and as much as I might convince myself we NEED something - we don't - and thankfully I think that pounding need has passed.
Blinking windy here - off for a decaf and bed me thinks xxTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Budgie, I know that my problem if I picked up a drink again, would be the following day, I KNOW that I will do it again as I have no will power to cut down. Good luck setting your target
FB, I've not heard of that stuff, I hope it works for you. Dunno how you can drink through dinner then go on to the cocoa, I start drinking then do it to black out, think I've finally realised what category I'm in!
Fay, I'm the same around day 3, infact day 3 is the killer for me, all hangover symptoms gone and the craving still there so can't even justify drinking to get over my bad head! Enjoy the decaf and try not to think of an excuse to get out of the house
I realised when I got in that we needed electric (pre-payment meter) so just been down my local 'usual' offy to get some, didn't bother me at all that I didn't buy beer...although the bloke behind the counter said 'anything else' in a weird way
Just made meself a decaf and now gonna watch Godfather 2 and drool over Al Pacino for a bit, didn't do the pancakes for me and OH in the end, just for the kids so might crack open a nice ice cold.....mint feast:D:D
Might be back, hope you're all having a good night and behaving yourselves
ETA: 4 days in a row for me, 11/28 for Feb:D:D

I am so sad, was excited to get 'Drinking; a Love Story' delivered today, hopefully Allen Carr's book will turn up too soon!
Also 'Rehab' on tv tomorrow night is about alcohol addiction this week, so may be worth a watch?
Wonder how this enthuasism will last? Lets wait until the weekend shall we, haha!
Have a good evening & well done everyone. Just remember why you are doing it, although sometimes it can go in one ear and out the other when you are on a mission to drink. Same as dieting, even if I have a list of reasons of why I want to lose weight, when its me against the chocolate, that just goes all out the window!
Note to self: must try harder!

Hi everyone,
Jo - you're doing so well, glad you're feeling so good.
Wb - could you update me to 14 AF days please?
2 AF days needed to hit target and 3 days left in the month so hopefully will do it. It's been an interesting journey! Much harder than I expected - 16 had seemed such a small and realistic target but has ended up being quite a challenge.
Lots learnt, will have a think about what to set for March...

Hi all- good to see the resolves holding fast- keep it up- come on Jo and everyone else, we're all rooting for you.
Had a bit of a flashback when people started talking about the morning after- I lost my license after having a withdrawal siezure in 2006 and DVLA wouldn't let me drive again until I had gone for 12 months without a fit (but thats another story!)- when I did start to drive again my son, who was 12/13 then went out and bought a breathalizer with his pocket money and made me blow into it every morning before he'd get in the car for a lift to school- he was so frightened I'd be over the limit. I very rarely was as I had usually drunk myself unconscious by 8 at night and even though I usually got up around 4 and had another slurp, by 9 I was OK. I think we all process alcohol at different rates, but I was always told its about a unit an hour. Sad, but I used to have a drink as soon as I got to work, then another at lunchtime and work out at what time I could leave and drive home ready for the usual oblivion. Even though I wasn't officially over the limit, I can still remember feeling that I shouldn't be driving, my reactions were slow and my concentration was nil, particularly with a pounding headache. Just thank God I never caused an accident.
Re: Kudzu, I read alot about this as I was desparately searching the net to find something that would help and it seems to be quite effective in reducing cravings. Never tried it but it seems to be really popular and has plenty of support- hope it helps, it'll be good to hear your feedback on it.
Right I'm off for an 'options' chocolate drink, then I've got to restring my strat so that will keep me busy- as will the 5 hours playing it after I've finished. Good luck everyone- the end is in sight!0 -

Eselt, Just read your post, how poignant that your son bought a breathaliser with his pocket money and made you use it before getting into the car with you. It certainly makes you sit up and think, you must be very proud of him, I know I would be. Hugs xxxxxxxxx
Oh and Polaroid, you haven't been around for awhile, hope you are ok? If you are lurking then I am sending you a big massive hug. xxxxxxxx
Jo well done sweetheart and take care, hugs.xxxxxxxxxxx
