  • Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support. I know it's only an Internet message board, but I already feel better for just having put the fact that I've got a problem in writing.

To answer some of the questions, I have been drinking every day recently, although ironically I managed to stop myself over Christmas when I was visiting my family. I've tried not doing it, but I start thinking about things and getting down and I start up again.

I do live alone so I don't really have anyone to talk to when I get home and that's another reason why I start drinking soon after I get in.

Anyway, I'm determined to sop feeling sorry for myself and do something about it and your positive thoughts will be a great help :cheesy:

GC you have a point. I associate summer with sitting in the garden with a cold glass of white wine. Winter means snuggling up by a roaring fire in a pub with a nice drink. It got to the point where my first though associated with any occasion would be the drink involved. Gradually changing that.

Stereosteve Good to see you back. You'll get loads of support here.

PP Lots of Hugs. Hope things seem brighter tomorrow.

Fay - when you've finished your paperwork fancy starting on mine ??

Phew! Well I'm so pleased with myself. Hubby mentioned earlier getting me a bottle of wine. But on the drive back from Mum and Dads he obviously forgot. And guess what?? I DIDN'T remind him. I'm sat here now quite happily with my cherryade :D

Something I have noticed this week. I've really bucked my ideas up around the house. Normally after the first glass of wine I'd sit down and say "sod it" to anything that needs doing. Tonight the house is tidy, washing up done and I feel just a teensy bit smug! Lets hope that carries on tomorrow. Sundays are my worst day. As long as I resist the urge to buy any alcohol I will be fine.

Hugs to anyone that needs them this evening

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick post before bed, I have been out for a meal with a group of friends all of which were drinking. I will confess that I have had: mineral water and sparkling at that. Feeling really pleased that I resisted the red wine, to be honest I haven't missed it. Strange or what?

So 7 out of 7 so far. (Happy days).

PP so sorry to hear how upset you are, just want to send you a big hug and lots of love. Take care and please look after yourself. xxxxxxxxxxx

So nite nite everyone sleep well and take care.

    hi all
wow, I feel so ill today - drank usual amount last night when I went out, but have been sleep since 3 this afternoon and feel dreadful. I think the lack of decent sleep you have when drunk is catching up with me. I have been AF tonight :) - quite easy when asleep lol! And hoping that tomorrow I am able to resist the urge to drink in the evening. I have no alcohol in the house, and need to go shopping so will NOT buy alcohol when out.

So 3 af days this month so far. Getting better I think.

Hi there Miss P- Paperwork here done (I have half a bin bag full of old stuff argh) so put the kettle on I should be with you in say?? um probably 3-4 days if I set off now???

Well done on the resisiting the reminding of the hubby. I don't get a thing done after I have had one glass of wine, I tell myself - I just need one to relax then I will get on, after one glass of wine I do absolutely nothing - nowt. Its amazing how much extra time there is when I haven't been drinking!!

Not AF last night had a couple glasses of cider with a takeaway - less than I would normally have had but man o man my head was terrible this morning - and guess what only saw about 10 minutes of the second movie we put on.........go figure!!

WB I am still on 6/8

    Morning all :)

    PP, hugs to you ((()))

Steve, it must be very difficult when on your own indoors, I know for a fact I would be completely out of control if I didn't have others in the house to keep me in check or have to try and hide stuff from!! Keep posting :)

Fay, send me your address and I'll send you a jar :)

GC, every situation can be a drinking one, if you're p1ssed off, very happy, out in the sun, in in the warm, a frightening shock, a celebration, finishing off the wine you've used for the gravey, kicking back watching a film, to relax, to ease a stressful situation etc etc they go on forever!

    Everyone else

Went out for a curry and a beer last night which was very nice but plan to be sober today.

WB, I'm on 3/whatever the date is, I think you had me down as a 4 which was because I'd done 31 Jan too but that's not included in AFF iykwim??

    Hope everyone's okay today :)

I think we're all the same, as soon as I have my first sip, all good intentions are gone. I have a bombsite of a kitchen this morning cos I was out last night and them indoors had to fend for themselves   I wouldn't mind one of them is my OH that 'should' be capable and the other is my 16yo DD that also should have a brain but it's still total carnage out there - I'd bought microwave stuff to minimise on the chance of them burning down the house, or creating a gas explosion or the mess and total confusion of 'mum has gone out, what the hell are we going to eat and how the hell do we cook it

So what I have decided to do is, although I'm chomping at the bit to get out there and tidy, I'm going to leave it till tonight and use some of that free non-drinking time to do it...it's amazing how long an evening is when you're sober and I must fill it with things to do, otherwise complacency hits
