A perch is a fish..... ;):D Took me a minute, I have to admit......

Hope we're all well.... we're out tonight, so a drink with the meal may well be consumed.... but we had allowed for weekends in our targets.

    Hello buddies.

Hope the weather is not proving a difficulty.

I remember I used to think "Bad weather = nothing better than staying at home with a bottle of warming red wine" , and at the time I thought drinking should be a winter activity.

However, when summer came around, I thought "Drinking is a summer activity, as nothing beats a few pints outside in the sunshine'

I always justified it to myself, and consequently, drank all year round.

Had a good day today, and Slumdog @ the cinema tonight with a friend :T

    be well people
  • HI Guys,

Sneakily logged on but I am at work.

Just wanted to say: welcome and good luck Stereo Steve, I am sure you will get the support you need on here. Take care and hugs. xxx

I also wanted to say that: The Commitments is one of my favorite films. There is a line in it which Jimmy Rabbit says which is:
"SAY IT ONCE, SAY IT LOUD":
I AM PROUD TO BE PART OF DEAR LURKY'S 2009 ALCOHOL FREE CHALLENGE.
I just think we all need to refocus on February and move forward with a positive attitude.
As Esther says: give a little love and it come back to you.
SO HERE'S TO FEELING THE LOVE.
    :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls
Ok getting off my perch now.
    Love and hugs. BB

BB if you genuinely were sneakily logged on at work then the size of that text probably wasn't a good idea...:rotfl:

  • Hi all, a quick message now as we are entertaining tonight, and again tomorrow night  .

That measn my totals will probably be 2/8 by Sunday evening  .

But I am drinking more in moderation so am not too concerned, but will need to pull myself up by my bootstraps next week. Is that whip still handy?

To SterioSteve you've come to the right place my friend :D Even if we do say so ourselves :D Obviously your drinking issues are yours and yours alone to come to terms with but you will get a lot of positive advcice and support when you do well, and also when you do not so well.

I guess it depends how serious your position is. BHB is gradually reducing the amount he drinks. Everyone else is trying to have as many AF days as possible. Whatever you choose is fine by us. Good luck ;)

  • Hi everyone

Haven't been on since midweek. Have fallen off the wagon big-time now, only last night, managed not to drink during the week when driving the next morning in these conditions thank God.

Am far, far too down to even think about not drinking this weeked. Stuck to vodka last night so didn't get hammered, am able to control vodka a lot better cos it affects me slower.

But tonight I've got 2 bottles of wine in the fridge. Don't particlarly care, don't have to drive tomorrow and I'm so depressed I need it. OH has gone into shutdown mode as he always does when I'm upset so I'm just going for it.

Sorry, I feel like I've let down everyone that encouraged me. Though I did well to get through the week AF. :(

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart, you begin to understand. There is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep. That have taken hold.

I have loads of Open Uni studying to do - and will hopefully get stuck into that tomorrow (groan). Anyway, my twin daughters are off out and me and hubby are stuck at home with the lad, who is busy on his Wii....still Casualty later, and who knows, I might win the lottery!

Hi all- welcome steve, hugs to PP and well done everyone for having a plan.

Steve- sounds to me like you are under a lots of pressure, and the work/life balance has got a bit distorted along the way? Drinking yourself unconscious (are you on your own?) every night, not having much contact with freinds and family and feeling so stressed all the time needs tackling I think- well done on making a success of your career, and holding down such a lot of responsibility, but please think of the potential cost of living at this pace, in terms of your physical and mental health. On the plus side I found my anxiety, panic and feelings of stress virtually disappeared within a couple of weeks when I gave up drinking, and I now know the fear and worry were fuelled by withdrawal from alcohol, and it was a vicious circle because when I felt like that only alcohol seemed to take the edge off quickly. Take care, what about thinking about taking a break? Try not to get burnt out, you are far too successful at what you do and far too young to risk long term health problems due to the pressures of work. Take care.

PP- thinking of you, I hate black dog days.

Have a good night everyone- tonight I shall be eating indian takeaway, as we won a £20 voulcher for the local indian TA in a raffle at the school- and our order came to £22.70 (delivered- so I don't have to go out in the cold!, cook or wash up and pots and pans!!!!). I've timed it to arrive just before casualty- just hoping there are no gory scenes to put the kids off eating.

Shall be going to bed with a new book, '25yrs of Viz magazine' which I hope will cheer me up.
