Fortunately not, I am from London my dear :D

Though lived in various countries for a lot of my adult life, so I probably have taken on some North American mannerisms, as the USA seems to be the dominant Western culture abroad.

Know what you mean - I'm in Switzerland but sometimes it could be New Jersey!
  • Two parrots sitting on a perch.

One says to the other, "can you smell fish?" Tee hee!

And here's one for the slimming worlders ....This is how Victoria Beckham stays so slim....

she has a pea for breakfast, a pea for lunch and a pea for dinner. And guess what she has before she goes to bed....yep, a pee!!

Lighten up everyone! Labels are for jars! We've hurt ourselves so much by drinking, and possibly others, (I know I have) that a silly word should bounce off us.

Seriously though we are all individuals with our own mountains to climb - lets keep on supporting each other and step by tiny step, we'll achieve our goals - or we'll achieve some of our goals, or we won't.

If it was easy, there wouldn't be over a 100 pages of this thread in just over a month.

A little kindness goes a long, long way. Many of us are emotionally bruised and more than a little damaged - perhaps we drank to numb that pain initially. I know I did. But I'm doing my best to stop. And I need you guys. I need your support and humour. So let's just pull together because we are doing so well. Remember, don't think about how far you have to go, think about how far you've come. If you're a newbie - then welcome, I hope you get the support to start your journey.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    5/6 for me, WB.
Drinks to remember I, Me and Myself
    And winds up the clock
And knocks dust of the shelf
Home is a love that I miss very much
So the past has been bottled, and labelled with love.

    Hi everyone

Welcome Steve :D I hope you find some good advice and support on here (we do love a debate by the way :undecided). If you don't mind me asking...do you drink everyday? If so, have you tried having a night off, what happened when you did?

I'm not going to go back into the GC/Alki debate again, I think everyone know's I respect GC's comments but that's probably because I AM an alcoholic and know it very well and also have no problem being labelled as such cos it's not taboo to me, just an illness. But I can appreciate that others might not feel the same. GC, please continue posting and everyone else, please no one leave cos we all need all of you, that's what makes this thread/challenges so successful :)

Me, myself, have not been quite so successful but I'm looking at a sober Sunday (going out tonight) and then we'll see where we are. So I shall be propping up the coffee table in here tomorrow night with a whole host of choklit and ice creams on sticks if you want to join me??

    xx

:hello: to all & welcome to Steve - sorry no time to do updated list now you'll have to be in suspenders 'til Monday.

Patchoulli, I don't get the parrot joke  am I now just showing myself up?

Roads OK now but had to dig my car out to get it off the drive earlier (well, my neighbour did, bless him) now waiting for DD to get home cos going out & want to get the drive over before it freezes again. Driving in all this stresses me out big-time! sure I'm not the only one. HAD to go out today car's not moved since Tues & I've got cabin fever.

Spose I could've updated the list in that time :o have a good weekend all.
  • How you doing anyway jo?

I am trying to find very many ways to distract myself..........was thinking about this, you know some of the other threads have strategies - wonder if we need to list ours??

    You know like:
    Going to be early
    Stockpiling cofee and choklit
Not keeping vino collapso in the hoose
    ????

    Just a thought. ..................
