I love this thread and I'm here coz drinking had got out of hand - its getting under control now coz of the lovely Lurky and yes, you guys - all of you! I realise we do have different goals - sometimes I feel like a fraud coz I haven't been to the dark places that some of you have - but that doesn't mean I can't understand or care. This thread is about support - which is proven. Keep the faith xxx
100% with you Esther, I too have not been to the dark places that some of our members have, (thank goodness) For myself I realised that I was drinking too much, not everynight but at weekends I just didn't drink sensibly enough. It is for that reason that I joined this thread after lurking for ages.
It is by far the best decision that I have made, I read everyones posts and take from them what I can. Some posts have more meaning to me, I guess they may relate to more how I am feeling at that moment in time.
I would strongly say to everyone: that we are all different and have different perspectives on alcohol and how it effects us as individuals. I do not consider myself an alcholic, I consider myself someone who when drinking was doing it to excess. I have been able to do without alcohol now for five weeks despite feeling low and upset.
Again Dear Lurky thankyou for coming up with the idea in the first place :T love and hugs to You and the lovely Esther. xxx
Love and Hugs to: EVERYONE xxxxxCherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home

Just wanted to add that Grey P your post is well put. Gc your posts I am sure help alot of people myself included. I see you as the more stern one of our group, (I mean that in a positive way).
Everyone has a different style because of course we are all different people.
We all need to stay and have the support of everyone on here, it would be a shame for anyone to leave. Lets get through this month together, surely together is better than on ones own?
So Fedup please take care and I know you have had a horrible week with your accident and you must be in alot of pain with your whiplash injury. But please stay because we do care. Things will improve and get better, as in life they always do. (Though we don't always think that they will) Big Hugs xxxxxxxxxCherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home

Creeps in slowly with head below the paraphet.............whispering - don't leave anyone............GP I think you might have a point about passion
I personally Don't like labels - except on flowers - but I know we can all get a wee bit passionate about something - I am a self confessed (labels out here) 'greenie, treehugger, planet baby, recycling freak, flower daft, alternative lifestyle, non rate-race participant, MSE crazed woman' I try my hardest not to jump up and down (but don't often succeed) and try and makes folks understand how important the whole thing is.............
You can't imagine the amount of times I have offered advice re Quidco, saving the planet - and get quite animated about it - don't get me started on the subject of growing veggies, recycling, turning lights off, supporting local businesses and farming, saving the planet etc etc etc etc - people are known to die of boredom listening or tell me to just shut up.
I am not negating anything anyone is saying or thinking or feeling - I do admire you all and all your passions and it takes all sorts ..............won't make a list cos I will forget someone
I have several problems - as you can see!!!! I don't want labelled particularily - if I am honest - drinking alot of wine, is only one area of my life that I need support in now. Mostly my life eveyone else's life is a work in progress.......:)
I so appreciate the support, trust and respect I see here - its probalbly one of the only places I am completely honest and can ask for genuine unconditional unjudgemental support xxxx

Evening peeps :hello:
I would just like to reiterate something I said a few weeks ago -
Its very difficult interpreting the tone of an email or forum post .....

OK made it up but you know what I mean

Please dont hun for a start you would mess up poor Wineboxes table and we cant have that:D
Seriously I am not going to get dragged into the GC arguement again except to say that you can cannot make somebody change by preaching to them. This poster was in my view (and I fully accept that it is my view) very rude to me so from that point he went on ignore and I only get to see his posts if one of you quote him which is fair enough for me. I guess I will be accused of being in denial  but nobody other than myself can say who I am and what "problems" I need to deal with. I love this thread but I have started to wonder if maybe there is a need for a "cutter down" thread and one for those who want to give up, not sureI would miss the wisdom by some of the giver upperers (not a word I know
) though so I guess that wouldnt work either. Hey maybe we just carry on our merry way enjoying the odd heated debate and if you feel offended by someone then slap em on ignore. Thanks to you lot I have made a dramatic change in my life which I probably would have done anyway but this has been a much more fun journey.
Now anybody for a creme egg? I bought 24 in Tesco yesterday cos they were cheap, I could throw in a AF Becks and a handful of jelly belly beans if anyone really really needs some bribery:D
love and hugs to all tonight :A29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
oh no you don't!!!!
We are all here for essentially the same reason. We want to reduce our alcohol intake. End. No labels. No judgements. If you don't like someone's posting style, don't pay their posts any heed
Different people get different benefits from different posts, but the thread as a whole is beneficial to all.
No one needs to leave :A
please......?
You are not a politician are you Lurkio ? If not, I think you missed your calling mateEmbrace your inner Hillbilly
