    Hey YM :)

Yeah, I'm ok, just going a bit OTT with the drinking! Two bottles of wine on a school night is not good!

    Morning!

Our new month starts today! Well done to everyone for getting this far....and thank you all for just being here - it has helped me loads.

What I have discovered during January!

    1. That even after a few days of continuous abstaining, I feel and look loads better. My energy levels improve, I sleep better.

    2. My underlying anxiety - which I drank to numb - was actually caused by the drink. I am much more evenly balanced now - less nervy, less anxious. This has been a huge eye-opener for me.

    3. That giving up is bl*ody difficult. Alcohol has had a firm grip on me for so long, that it will take me a long time to turn the tables and control it. But I will, because even by drinking considerably less for just a few short weeks, I can see that it was at the root of all of my problems.

    4. Not to get complacent - not to think "I've got this sorted, gone a week without a drink - gonna have just one glass, then back on the wagon". I have to get my head around the fact that for me, I don't think I'll ever have this sorted - I will just do my best, day by day.

    5. Not to think about tomorrow - just today.

    6. Not to beat myself up if I have three glasses instead of one now and again. I need to stop putting myself down and expecting myself to fail.

    Hi all
Pinch punch first of the month - white rabbit white rabbit white rabbit (supposed ot make the month go quick??)

I liked this P very much - I have roller coasted and struggled my way through January. Back to counting the hours that the shops are open and even making excuses to go for 'something'. I need to be more diligent!!

Waving ot you all - love 'dead poets' one of my favourite films.

Hope today is good for everyone - :D wishing you all a great Feb - and its ace to 'know you all'.#

    Away for a sausage buttie
then a walk I am v sleepy but have no hangover.

  • Morning!

Patchouli - your post rang so true for me, especially the bit about how easy it is to get complacent and think we've got it sorted. Think you said before that you spend a lot of time on your own - me too, which is my danger time when I've tended to really go overboard. Trying to follow the WOMO idea and find other things to do in the evenings - read a mag/book, phone someone etc. It's not easy though.

Anyway, unhangovered this morning which feels great and a good start to a new month. (Up early doing housework on a Sunday morning!! This challenge is turning me into my mother!! :o)

Off out - bacon buttie, good coffee (which has become an obsession of late!) and the papers are calling.

    Have a great day.
    xx
  • Congratulations all.

By posting on this thread you have accepted that alcohol may be an issue in your lives.
    :T
Many thanks to Lurky for keeping the January list and good luck to Winebox with the February list.

For those of us climbing out of deep black holes nothing has been posted on this thread that comes as a suprise.

"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."

Well done everyone and here's to a great February!!!

I think I prefer to approach February with a Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade (aka Al Pacino), in Scent of a Woman 'HOOO HAAA' kinda style....

Lurky, my actual is 13 (unlucky for some )

Gotta go, just started snowing and wanna get to Tesco and back before it really gets going!!

Speak to you all later, congrats for Jan and good luck for Feb :)
