  • Evening all :p

I've relaxed tonight and treated myself to one of the bottles of beer I got for my birthday (8th January) and one glass of the red stuff (from a box left over from christmas).

A box of wine has never lasted sooooooooooooo long in my house :o

I can only say that this month has been a liberating experience for me.

I think I have removed the shackles of the recent (tough) past. I am looking forward to a better future. I am a happier, lighter person. I look forward to the evenings now rather than just wanting to get sat down in front of the telly with a bouteille of wine.

Final total is 29/31 which exceeds my target.

Are my friends impressed? The jury is still out  But I guess this is ONLY one month. There is still a lot of work to do. Moderation next month.

Hugs to all. Tomorrow we have a family meal some 90 miles away (weather permitting). I may be driving as a result but may have a glass of wine when I get home.

Take care of yourselves and winebox, I look forward to you taking over. Maybe if you are not around EVERY day you will help to slow the rate of messages. Personally I will find that easier to keep up with :D

Last few hours of January then. I've got a massive mug of earl grey here.

Mrs GP is downstairs with a glass of Disirano (I'm not even going to try and spell it...it's the amaretto drink in the square bottle). I've just walked past and muttered "Tsk. drinking again are we?"

(she's a very controlled drinker and probably averages about 1 small glass of wine / measure of spirits per week! - but it feels nice to be a bit holier than thou :) )

Anyway, she stuck her tongue out at me and said two words, the second of which was 'off', and the first one was very rude indeed

So come on, I want to hear that "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR" as we rush screaming, Braveheart style, to meet february head on..

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    might work?

    How about a Mexican Rah?

No. Much too complicated to orchestrate and execute.

Hi all- good luck everyone with the new challenge- oh brave new world................am definately 28/28 for feb winebox......being sober feels so great I can't see any sane reason why I would stop feeling like this and trade it in for feeling like THAT (you all know what I mean!). Huge achievements in January, there must be a lot of proud people around today, and you deserve to be proud of yourselves, we all do, cus wherever we are at in terms of cutting down/giving up everyone this month has made a difference, and everyones efforts count. Practicing my roar big time for feb- am gonna wake up and roar each day, regardless of what the neighbours and kids think. Bring on february.............I'm loving this!!!!
  • Morning!

Our new month starts today! Well done to everyone for getting this far....and thank you all for just being here - it has helped me loads.

What I have discovered during January!

    1. That even after a few days of continuous abstaining, I feel and look loads better. My energy levels improve, I sleep better.

    2. My underlying anxiety - which I drank to numb - was actually caused by the drink. I am much more evenly balanced now - less nervy, less anxious. This has been a huge eye-opener for me.

    3. That giving up is bl*ody difficult. Alcohol has had a firm grip on me for so long, that it will take me a long time to turn the tables and control it. But I will, because even by drinking considerably less for just a few short weeks, I can see that it was at the root of all of my problems.

    4. Not to get complacent - not to think "I've got this sorted, gone a week without a drink - gonna have just one glass, then back on the wagon". I have to get my head around the fact that for me, I don't think I'll ever have this sorted - I will just do my best, day by day.

    5. Not to think about tomorrow - just today.

    6. Not to beat myself up if I have three glasses instead of one now and again. I need to stop putting myself down and expecting myself to fail.

    X
Drinks to remember I, Me and Myself
    And winds up the clock
And knocks dust of the shelf
Home is a love that I miss very much
So the past has been bottled, and labelled with love.

    Morning all!

    Its february! Hoorah!!!

WB sorry to be a pain but please could I change my target to 20/28??? I know, I change my mind like the weather but I want to be realistic and not to make myself feel like a failure if I have a couple of glasses. However, I will NOT be drinking whole bottles. Thats my main challenge this month....to change the way I approach drinking.

Today will be AF as have none in the house and do not intend to buy any. Good luck to everyone!!!

    Miss P
    xx

Good morning all - white rabbits and pinch and a punch and all that first of the month malarkey.

Not a good start to february here as it's snowing! I really am fed up of watching white stuff fall out of the sky.

Have a good day everyone and all power to our elbows with this AFF
