By the way, I notice some people are noting minimum payments on this thread. I have only been reporting on extra daily payments, not the minimum payments I make anyway. What is everyone else doing?
Hi Piggin I just add my extra payments but I know a lot of people add their min payments too, I suppose whatever works best for you really.

  • piggin - i do my (mostly) little daily payments to holiday savings and i am also now keeping track of mortgage payments as that's my next focus. so i count my usual required mortgage payment & then will also post when i make an extra mortgage payment (hasn't happened yet - but will on 1 march!). it's up to you how you keep track, but my thought is that's it's more motivating for me to count the required payment as well as the extras, as it's all bringing down the debt...

Well I note any payments that come out of my starting level of debt. These incude ANY payments to credit cards or loans. Also, an income tax debt is in my amount so I note any payments to IR on my PAD.
There are no rules really. If the originator of the thread wishes to alter what should be declared as a PAD, or wishes to put it to a vote, then I don't see a problem with that. I don't have any strong views about it one way or t'other really.

PAD today of £148.52 to Lloyds loan that's my regular monthly payment to them. Got paid on Friday and much of it fell into Overdraft Black Hole but at least I am still not using my overdraft to its maximum capacity, which is a first - that's because of all the ideas here, I know. I think I really need to go back to basics, get spreadsheets going as some of you do, and see exactly what is going where - and why! That way I should be able to be more on top of things instead of being like Scrooge and moaning about money all the time. If I can be proactive then i will be tackling my debt not just trying to service it all the time!
Welcome to all newbies, this thread will give you so much support. I am not always a daily poster but I log on and read through every day, just hearing of everyone's efforts and successes keeps me motivated. Thank goodness this site was 'born' 6 years ago!
  • I'm gonna join if thats okay-but i'm gonna list only extra payments towards debts as the minimum payments is part of my new budget I've just drawn up, as i've always paid those at end of month when its payday. But what i shall do is check my bank balance daily and any odd amount i'll pay to a debt-as long as I'm not broke, in which case it'll be a £1 only payment as thats still £365 a year!!
  • i made a payment about midnight last night, so ill add totals of toay when i get home from work, toodles

nice to meet you all by the way :)
  • Hi everyone!
Thank you all for your words of support last week, and the very very dodgy hugs! It was greatly appreciated. It's amazing really how much it meant when a bunch of people I've never met sent out support like that. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you all. Nothing new to report on the health front, except that I slept all weekend and still managed to sleep in yesterday and today - woops! Thankfully I only have tomorrow to get through and then I'm off until the 9th March.

I haven't been keeping up with my PADs (could kick myself!) but something rather wonderful happened yesterday! Just before Christmas I started the process of reclaiming credit card charges, and yesterday evening discovered another one has been settled! They had refunded £104 about 10 days ago as a goodwill gesture, but I wrote back asking them for the rest last Monday. When I checked online last night to see if February's statement was ready, I was a little confused as to why the balance had gone from £179 to £258, until I noticed 2 little letters that made a whole heap of difference - my balance is now £258CR! :D Yep, they've paid up in full - in total I've got back from them pennies short of £550. I phoned them last night and arranged for the money to be transferred to my current account. I was going to use the entire amount to put towards the next card on my hit list, but I think I'm going to use some of it to treat myself to getting my hair done, and perhaps a facial as well! So I'll make clearing this account my PAD today - a total of £187.10! 2 cards down, 4 to go!!
Credit Card Debt at LBM (Jan 08): £14981; Debt now (March 2010): £9912
