A Payment a Day Part 2!

PAD today for me is £1.68 to Barclaycard, I'm trying to nibble away at this so that when I get to my payment in March I can see a difference. I am already ahead of my normal behaviour which is - get statement requesting minimum payment, stuff in drawer / old handbag / behind cookery books on kitchen shelf. Get another one, repeat process. Get phone call from call centre in India which begins with asking for my date of birth. Get very huffy and say I am not so naive as to give out personal details over the phone. Eventually crack at about the third phone call and make minimum payment. All this cha cha cha gains me about 2 weeks between statement and payment - so haven't saved any money but have saved a lot of time!
An old bill has jumped up to bite me on the bum - totally forgot that I had a £300.00 solicitor's bill outstanding from my divorce last year. However, they have agreed to monthly payments of £50.00 for the next 6 months, which is good. When I get my first oervtime payment in March, though, I might pay off the balance at a stroke so as not to over-extend the monthly payments. More cha cha cha!!
Only another week until payday, and hopefully it won't all fall into overdraft black hole. Happy Friday to everyone, Happy Valentine's Dayto those with lovely partners and bog hugs and support to those going through a rough week. I'm thinking of you and I know you will come through.

Hi everyone, another lurker de-cloaking. Just wanted to say that this thread is pretty entertaining to read every day - it's like a mini soap! It's already inspired me to start my pad - only 50p a day but better than nothing.
I'm trying to pay off my Barclaycard which has around £750 on it. I use any money I make from selling on Play, Amazon and GreenMetropolis towards my debt as and when it arrives. I also do daily clicks, cashback sites and surveys to make money for extra payments.
My Barclaycard is by no means my only debt - just one of the smallest and it's on 24.9% apr:o so it has to go. After that it's my OH's Capital one card which has £850 on it - he said he was "just getting it for expenses".
So my payment today is 50p
hello and welcome, sashybo! congrats on your "de-cloaking"! nice to have you with us - you'll know already as you've been reading for a while that we're a bunch of loons with ups and downs and everything inbetween! have fun and good luck xxMortgage free as of 11/11/15 !

Hello all!
I went out yesterday and in the process of getting ready was looking for a particular handbag that I haven't used in about 2/3 months - imagine my surprise when I pulled it out of the pile of other handbags and found inside a pile of change that was obviously the change from the last night out I went on with it! There was about 18 pound something in a variety of change, I have kept all the pound coins and fiver in my purse to try and combat the skintness, but made a total PAD (including yesterdays because I didn't post it) of £7.24! Because it was all loose change it has gone into the Take That fund instead of to a credit card but every little helps eh.
Slightly off topic, does anyone know which bank it is that has the change counting machines that don't charge you?

Bless you being on your own hun, I hate being in the house alone overnight
I totally relate on becoming desensitized with the debts too, now I have some sort of control and plan I can relax a little.Like someone else said you cant live forever and we cant take our debts with us (TFFT);)
You should really get yourself up to bed though, it wont do anything for your posture being curled up on a sofa, why not go up to bed early and read or watch tv in bed, least then if you do nod off you dont have to wake up and move?
Best go, #4 has fallen asleep in my arms and its going dead and #3 is trying to put the poor cat in an early grave
I often wonder what I did with my days before kids
Hope you get some decent rest soon hun and no doubt ill catch you on here later

Hi oh great mother of the monkies.
I just got in from work and catching up on posts.
Watching TV in bed is something that hadn't occurred to me - probably because I haven't got a TV in the bedroom. It would be quite tricky to set it up as well as I get my feed via a Virginmedia box and drilling through a wall would probably be involved. This place was built in the days when they used concrete breeze blocks. I suppose it might be possible to get a long extension cable though and route it through a couple of doorways and take a more circuitous route.
I've no excuse really. It's not as if I even have to make it up the stairs because I'm in a two bedroomed flat (I use one as a guestroom/office) and live on one level. I suppose another way might be to have an alarm clock in the living room and have it set for midnight in case I nod off. That sounds a lot easier to manage.
I'm not a great one for reading when tired. I think I would be more likely to have a radio on when I'm in bed or maybe some light music.
As for living on my own - I don't actually mind that bit. I suppose I've grown used to it really. I've lived on my own most of my adult life. I did live with someone for 7 years in my 20s and I rented this place out for three years while I tried living with another women in my early - mid 40s. Obviously neither situation worked out - the second one being a severe nightmare that put me off relationships for quite a while (I will be 52 soon).
I could understand Lula Hula when she said she wanted nothing to do with relationships as I went through a period like that which went on for a few years. Being on my own isn't so terrible. I live on my own and work on my own. I do have a reasonable social life though and, although my friendships are not huge in number, they more than make up for that by their quality.
I even had Christmas day lunch on my own and people felt sorry for me. I loved it. Feet up on the coffee table, watching TV and stuffing my face with things that I like.
It can be quite funny really that one person's torture is another's bliss0 -
Afternoon everyone,
How are we all today?
Well so far i have had a pretty uneventful day, went to uni for the morning and then spent the afternoon in the library doing some work. Popped into town to buy OH a card for tomorrow - we have agreed not to do presents this year as we cant really afford it, instead we are going to go out for a meal during the week using some 2 for 1 vouchers we have:D
And now i will be spending the evening typing up my work ready for monday morning
OH got paid today so £3.93 to HSBC CC and £10 to council tax arrears.

What a bl**dy week!!! Glad its over, 2 day weekends just aren't long enough for my liking though! Right PAD £1.45 that takes my total payment (including minimum) to this account £50 this month. As the car as just had to have all new back brakes and my mechanic (god love him) is so laid back he couldn't possibly give me an idea of how much this might be until he gets around to making up the bill I'm going to stop on the old payment a days for this month as I am determined to not use the credit card. I will be checking in on everyone though but not this weekend, going to have my thinking about, dreaming about, wondering about finances free weekend and not have anything to do with money at all ..... including spending it.
Have a great valentine's day all you single people like me who will be just loving themselves!!! Hmmmm sounds a bit dodgy that! ha ha:rotfl:0
