ok, so everyone 'America-bound' should already be signed up to the TravelZoo weekly email, but just in case you're not, there's a "40% off MGM" deal here:
    http://hotels.travelzoo.com/las-vegas-hotels/522814?utm_source=top20_us&utm_medium=email_top20

I was going to post the dates, but the travelzoo website contradicts the reservations site it sends you too so not sure if the link they have is the right one - still decent prices though regardless (and it may get updated at some point so keep your eyes pealed - i assume they will either correct the info or give out another link!)

At present, travelzoo state bookings till May, to be booked by end of Jan, but the site you go through to says September to be booked by mid-Feb

edit: if you're not signed up, do so here - in fairness most of the deals do end up getting posted around the internet one way or the other but this way you can cut to the chase :)

    Hi guys.

Firstly, many thanks for everyone who has posted. I've read every post and it has given me loads of great background info!

Me and a group of mates have booked for Vegas in June (I know, hot!) on expedia at the Riviera for 7 nights (£200), flying from Gatwick on Virgin (£280) for £480 total. We basically booked it cos it looked a decent price.

Just wondered, from that area, which would be the best way of gettign about for a a group of fellas, about 8 at the mo, though growing by the day! I've looked at cars but I dont think we'll get the use oout of them. Is the bus/tram reliable enough? Or would taxis just be as easy? Avg cost from there to the middle of strip?

We'll also obviously be hitting the casinos but reading the posts there isn't may tips as to which is best.

The things I was most wondering about were the clubs and stripclubs! I've read that clubs can be a nightamre to get into, especially for groups of guys, for queues etc. Any tips? I've seen clubs tours etc but they look like a bit of a scam to me. Any experiences? What are the dress codes like? Are there many suits knocking about?

as for stripclubs, any experiences?! Don't want to get ripped of like you can in Prague/eastern europe etc. Where are the best areas? Where to avoid?

Many thanks in advance for your replies!

i haven't been to a stripclub ( honest :cheesy: ) but you should have no trouble finding a reputable club to suit your budget. there are loads of them dotted around the roads off the strip . cheetahs always gets good reviews and you will see plenty of signs for the big clubs. any that advertise in the free mags in the hotel lobby should be okay. The unofficial guide to Las vegas has some good info on this subject .

don't ask a taxi driver to take you to one , as these guys get kickbacks to take you to rip off joints.

There is a rule regarding Stripclubs in Vegas that you should be aware of. Topless only clubs can serve alcohol but totally nude clubs cannot . there is one exception which is the Palomino club which you should only attempt to reach by Car , as it is north of downtown .

as for transport. The Deuce is pretty cheap , and reliable. you shouldn't have too many problems getting on at busy times at the Rivera.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say that my favourite band, The Killers, will be playing The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel on Friday 17th April. For those of you who don't know Vegas is their home town.

Anyone lucky enough to be in Vegas at the time may want to check it out as it will be a great show. Presale tickets so on sale through www.ticketmaster.com site tomorrow at 10:00PST although I'm not sure if there are any restrictions on the presale.

The public sale is Sat 24th at 12:00PST.

Personally I'm gutted as I'm in Vegas in March but I'm lucky enough to have tickets to see them in Glasgow 5 days before I go to Vegas.

    7 weeks until Vegas :T

I think that's the one that a friend took a tour of...I would really like to...it sounded quite interesting - from memory, many of the women work there one month a year and have other jobs the rest of the time but make a very good amount of money in their month at the ranch. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    hahaha

if you check out the website it looks really really tacky and bad, a friend mentioned it to me a while back....it would be funny if i was still in my early twenties, free and single and up for a laugh i might go along :)

would it be cheaper to book show tickets before we go or from a booth?
