Ok guys i need a nice 4* hote on or very near the strip from the 16th of marsh to the 19th of march.

    thanks

Thats during march madness where prices are usually higher.

The Orleans is near the strip (relatively) and is $38/$48 dollars for those nights. Prob not 4* either but a heads up to anyone else looking that there are some great rates during that period.

    What is your budget?

In LA at the mo for a couple of days and then off to Vegas. me being me I have not booked the internal flights hoping to bag a last minute great deal.

Does anyone have any tips or good sites to search. cheapest I got was $149 on US airways through priceline.com

    Thanks all

You could try Southwest - www.southwest.com...depending on the day you're flying could be as low as $139.

I'm arriving there on the 20th March, managed to get a reasonable deal for the Friday and Saturday at the Monte Carlo by following the fatwallet links on the first page of this thread. The earlier you book, the bigger the discount.

    Hope that helps,

Edit :- Here's the link to the offer https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=MCH&host=promo&code=XMCTIER

If you can get a membership at a UK LCI casino, you could book Paris for $75/night.

Or what looks to be quite a standard room at Flamingo which may not be what you're looking for for $39/night from the 16th to 18th, $69 on the 19th.

Or Bally's south tower (unrenovated but large) for $69/night.

Of those, Paris might best suit your needs and is on the strip.

    Etc.

  • Hi guys.

Firstly, many thanks for everyone who has posted. I've read every post and it has given me loads of great background info!

Me and a group of mates have booked for Vegas in June (I know, hot!) on expedia at the Riviera for 7 nights (£200), flying from Gatwick on Virgin (£280) for £480 total. We basically booked it cos it looked a decent price.

Just wondered, from that area, which would be the best way of gettign about for a a group of fellas, about 8 at the mo, though growing by the day! I've looked at cars but I dont think we'll get the use oout of them. Is the bus/tram reliable enough? Or would taxis just be as easy? Avg cost from there to the middle of strip?

We'll also obviously be hitting the casinos but reading the posts there isn't may tips as to which is best.

The things I was most wondering about were the clubs and stripclubs! I've read that clubs can be a nightamre to get into, especially for groups of guys, for queues etc. Any tips? I've seen clubs tours etc but they look like a bit of a scam to me. Any experiences? What are the dress codes like? Are there many suits knocking about?

as for stripclubs, any experiences?! Don't want to get ripped of like you can in Prague/eastern europe etc. Where are the best areas? Where to avoid?

Many thanks in advance for your replies!

Point of info please - what is "March Madness"? When is it?

I'm booked at MGM Grand 27/3 to 3/4 - is it during our stay?

Can't effect the rates I've booked but may preclude finding a cheaper rate!
  • I've done it, i told my husband i've booked Las Vegas for his birthday! I managed to keep it secret for a week so that's really good going for me! Now we can share the excitement so that's good and he gets a say in what we do.

He's working abroad at the moment so i've sent him lots of links to be getting on with.

US university basketball tournament (it's a much bigger deal than it sounds). Your trip covers rounds 3 & 4 but you'll leave right before the Final Four games start...

I think by law taxis in Las Vegas can only carry a maximum of 5 passengers and some can only carry 4...so that will be at least 2 taxis for you...from Riviera to mid-strip I would think probably $12 or so average taxi far assuming no bad traffic. I've never taken the buses (refuse to as I take buses in London at least 5 days a week and refuse to do so on holiday :)) but many are happy with them, though they can be a bit slow going and crowded.

As for which casinos are best - the ones you win in. :) There's a big variety in terms of casinos, so really depends on what you're looking for - type of games, table minimums, cocktail service (and the quality of the waitresses), type of patron, number of half naked girls dancing on platforms in the middle, general vibe...etc...so my favorite might be the worst suggestion in the world to a group of guys. For the half naked girls element it seems to me that Flamingo and Planet Hollywood may come out on top. :)
