  • Firstly i'd like to thank you all for your endless help/tips and general info regarding vegas.
My hubby and i are planning to go at the end of Sept. :j
After reading your recommendations, i have totalled up the cost of a package with Virgin holidays (they seem to be the cheapest) which comes out as £2198 for us both direct from Gatwick 20-28th Sept, staying at The Signature - one bedroom suite. (Also, possible free connecting flights from Belfast in Sept)
Then separately, the flights are £840.40 (for both of us) and the hotel is $2,152 (approx £1565) Plus return flight from Belfast at £146.88 Totalling £2,552.28 (approx).
My hubby suggests just going ahead with the package at Virgin Holidays, but i'm trying to encourage him to book the flights now and wait until nearer the time to get a better offer on the hotel! He says with the dollar going down so much it probably wouldn't save us much to wait!
Can anyone give reassurance or an idea of how much of a saving we could make?
It's our first ever holiday together, a treat for our 10th wedding anniversary (yes, i know, 10 years without a holiday! )

    Many Thanks
    Vicki

Thats during march madness where prices are usually higher.

Point of info please - what is "March Madness"? When is it?

I'm booked at MGM Grand 27/3 to 3/4 - is it during our stay?

Can't effect the rates I've booked but may preclude finding a cheaper rate!

I've found that the weekend prices are high (Friday & Saturday) but i've got a good deal at the MGM for Sunday to Wednesday nights. (I'm there the weekend before)

Is there a reason you want all 6 to stay in the same room/apartment?

I think you might struggle...there are 2 bedroom suites available some places, but they're going to be pretty expensive and may have a maximum occupancy of less than 6...so I suppose it depends on what you are looking to spend.

may be better to consider standard hotel rooms and hope for adjoining rooms?

Or you could rent a house off the strip.

Hi all, the planning continues.... :)

Is Carhire3000 the best / cheapest place to hire a car from?

Am I right in thinking that the price we see on their website is the price we pay, no hidden extras at all?

We want to collect in Vegas for about four days for a trip to LA and then back to LV to drop off.

Any suggestions for a good car for four people and luggage - I fancy the dodge charger but 26 mpg isn't great.... would love a convertible but taken advice on here about sandpits in cars.... Jeep Liberty is an option (no off roading, honest :) )

Think the Chevvy Aveo may be to small? Chevvy Cobalt anyone? or the Pontiac G6....?

    Hi everyone

Just wanted to share with you the bargain (I think, anyway!) I got this morning booking my hotel for LV in April.

Booked for 18th - 23rd April for 5 nights at the Wynn for $119 per night - so about £460 for both of us in 5* hotel - I'm well chuffed!

Got it through Hotwire. Although you don't know you're hotel until you've booked and paid, the Wynn seems to be coming up a lot lately. Used www.betterbidding.com to try and identify the hotel and they came up trumps!

I'm in Vegas at the same time, I've booked Mandalay Bay for about the same money.
Never used hotwire but plumbing in those dates the result says 5-star condo in Central Strip for $119.

Can you confirm that this is the Wynn or point me in the right direction to identify it (looked on better bidding but couldn't find it). I did find a thread on there claiming that the Wynn take $150 per day as a security deposit - that'd be $750 for a 5 night stay, can anyone confirm?

Am I right that if booked through hotwire it'd be non-refundable?

    Thanks in Advance

Does it say that it has a casino or golf course as the Wynn has both, I am guessing that as it is listed as Condo that it is not Wynn but more likley Trump though Trump is a bot far north to be described as Central Steip (though I would say the same for Wynn as well)
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

If it says "Condo" it will more than likely be Trump. Just had a look, yep, that's Trump alright. Notice on the description of amenities there is no casino and yes once you book your card gets charged the full amount and there is no refund. You can easily identify the hotel as being either Wynn or Venetian by putting in 5 star central strip, if the description does not have a casino then it is Trump, so now you are left with either of the 2 I mentioned. now look for the number of tripadviser reviews, count how many it has then go to TA and find out how many Wynn and Venetian have
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
