The Fremont street experienceGoing to Vegas in Aug,then on to Hawaii and LA but after 3 nights in LA we are driving back to Vegas for 5 more nights. We have a night not booked and thought we would stopover on the drive to Vegas. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good stopover point possibly with somewhere to play a round of golf.
Thanks

Between LA and Vegas is three hundred miles of desert and tumbleweed, and a sixties looking caf that Im sure someone will remind me the name of.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

We stayed at the Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley and loved it.
If you want luxury then do not stay there, but if you want something different, quirky and some history then I would highly recommend it.0 -
I did it - at last! Booked the Venetian for 5 nights with Virgin flights (direct ones) Oct 4-9 for £1250. Woo hoo. Cant wait now just need to gen up on all the other tips and catch up with you experts. :-)0

The Bellagio FountainsChrista - honestly, don't be scared of trying to tip at check in. OH thought I was completely mental the first time we went to Vegas years ago anmd I decided to try this. He stood as far away from me as possible for fear of embarrassment and he'll openly admit it.
We've done this now about a dozen times and once scored a nice suite, so what's the worst that can happen - they pass it back to you and offer an upgrade at a price or you lose your $20 and get no upgrade (not sure I'd be brave enough to ask for it back - lol).
Now, we have tried the tip at Paris, and we did get a room with a partial fountain view, but it was 'very partial' on a very low floor.... I'm not sure we wouldn't have ended up with the same room anyway without the tip, but even if I was going back to Paris, I'd still give it another shot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...... look at as the first gamble of the holiday :beer:Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -

My vegas wedding is fast approaching - panicing slightly!!
Im looking to buy something for my soon to be Mother and Father-in-law as a gift for helping with planning our wedding. Basically something instead of the usual flowers and hipflask/cufflinks type combo.
Any ideas? Im thinking maybe ticket for a show/gift voucher for meal - budget wise im thinking about 100-150dollars...any suggestions for something in that range?
Thanks
Just spotted this from yesterday. How's about a nice Spa Package at one the hotels. It's a lovely way to pamper them and it's usually not something people would spend on themselves.
If you do want to go down the ticket route, there are so many to choose from, maybe a Cirque show if they've not seen any of these before. Casa Di Amore (not that I've been there to eat, but others on the board have) arrange a limo pick up from the hotel to the restaurant, which is a nice touch or you could arrange a limo ride for them before or after a meal somewhere else.
Hope the wedding goes well. 9 months to my own weddingLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -

Ok I'm off to Vegas in a couple of weeks (been reading this thread religously since the start of the year!) and just got a few questions if someone would be so kind please..
Firstly we're staying at the MGM Grand in one of the basic rooms, have MGM got form for going along with this $20 trick at reception? Is there any spiel that can go with it, eg first time in vegas, charm the receptionist etc etc? We're checking in about 1pm so unfortunately can't leave it late as poss so might be restricted on room availability etc.
Also I've heard that a lot of the clubs give out leaflets to get free or reduced entry. Is this the case? If so wheres the best place to get these please? Are 'smart' jeans with shoes permitted in the clubs or is it trousers only?
And finally.. what are the best outlets for real bargains? Ideally after levis, lacoste, ralph lauren, adidas originals, armani amongst others. I have a shortlist of:
http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=61
http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58
http://www.boulevardmall.com/html/index2.asp
Which one of these is best to hit first?
Many thanks0
