Wow - praise indeed. I really want to stay here! Have you (or anyone else on the thread) stayed at Venetian, Palazzo, Bellagio &/or Wynn. Just interested for comparison on Encore being the best..... :)

(I've only done Venetian of the 5 of them)
IMHO it is better than all of them,(except Wynn not having stayed there) and I think without a lake view room Bellagio is over rated anyway. rooms are bigger than Venetian and Palazzo
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

It's just the location of the Encore I'm not keen on for an extended stay. Just a wee bit far north for my liking.
We found that a problem as well, but would put up with it just to stay there. And hey, you can walk to Peppermill for breakfat every day!!

how much of a pain in the !!! do people think its going to be to be staying in M bay
in terms of getting upto the mid strip area
so far from what i can see
monorail to excal then cross over mgm and monorail from there?
cant decide if should leave my booking there or head upto center strip instead

I've stayed in Mandalay Bay and commuted up strip at night ect . Best bet is the Deuce . you can catch it outside , but Mandalay bay is a tad unusual in that it does not have huge entrance from street level , as it was not designed to pick up the casual passer by as much . finding the actual strip from inside is a tad difficult .

my advice is the first time you wish to go up strip from the hotel , take the monorail to the Trashy castle then cross over to the MGM Grand via NYNY or Tropicanna . then catch the deuce from outside the Grand Canyon gift store . or just get a taxi

when you get the bus back to MB ask the driver who drops you off to point out where the north pick up is ( you have to cross the strip traffic ) . then when you get off just head into mandalay bay and you will then know how to get back outside .

Mandalay Bay is very nice place to stay IMO .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Just over six weeks to go until my first trip to Veags. My query can probably be answered by the poll but, what are peoples top three things to do in Vegas? I know everyone has different tastes, but it will give me some sort of idea of what to do when we get there.

The cheapest place to play is the municipal course here but it can be busy. we usually play at Angel Park, there are 2 18 hole courses and a flood lit par 3. You can rent a set of clubs for $50. if you phone up in advance and say that you would like to play but can't afford to bring your clubs, they might give you a discount, we got 2 sets free before now.

my top 3 las vegas tips

1 try to get a gambling lesson on the first day if you have no experience at doing so (most of the hotels run free classes or if you speak to the pit boss he can arrange an impromptu one) makes a huge difference to your first time in vegas
2 make sure you see freemont street, the grittier side of vegas.
3 if your there for a week or more, hire a convertable and go for a drive somewhere, lake mead, red rock etc...

Hi to all. Just getting my TR for our trip to LV together so it makes sense.

Been home a week and having withdrawal symptons. After a couple of days we weren't too sure it was somewhere we would return to as felt a bit brash. After a whole week there we want to go back now! Although I don't think we would stay at the IP. Good location, but too dated and as said before just don't like the waiting for the lifts every time. Just me I suppose, but watching the lifts come down,5,4,3,2,3,4,5 just doesn't gell.

Basically we did Jersey Boys, Coasters Platters and Marvelletes, Lion King and Tournament of Kings. As well as drive to Hoover Dam(twice... long story will detail in TR), Red Rock, Gliding, tandem chuting, sunset trip to Grand Canyon and 500 miles of driving. As well as OH having to dialyse twice it was a pretty busy week.

    Back with TR asap

and anybody with a trip to LV planned..............you jammy b****rs...lol(just jealous)
