Hope that you can help. I am off to LV on 0th May my 50th. I have decided that i have to fly direct so have booked with Virgin, the problem is as this was a last minute thing, when i selected seat there was very few options avaialble. The off shot is the wife and i are not seated together.
Do you know if the check in desk will help to rearrange this for us? Will it help to get to chk in first? Any chance of an upgrade..... bad seat, 50th birthday etc, what do youe clever people think.
Ps i will like a taker on the site and raely have anything to pass back to you all, maybe i can set myself a task of finding out a litle gem on LV that you have all previously missed
(some hope)
Cheers all
Steve
check again online at 24hrs before the flight, usually more seats become available then.
I flew out with Virgin yesterday from LHR to San Fran, there were lots of empty seats available. I did get a complimentary upgrade to Premium, but that may have been as I am a flying club gold card holder...then Virgin America over to Vegas, its my 50th birthday tomorrow..:o
The downside to Premium seats is that if there are empty seats next to you, the central armrests are fixed, unlike economy, so you cant lift them up to stretch out.
Plenty of people in economy had whole rows to themselves.0 -

Happy birthday for tomorrow! What a great way to spend your birthday...though it sounds like you'll be flying home on your birthday?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thank you...
Thats right, could only get Friday & Monday off work, so will be spending most of my birthday on the plane, Vegas to SFO, then SFO to Heathrow.
Am going to see Cher this evening, got a seat near the front...and with a $75 resort credit included in my stay at the Wynn, will probably take in a meal as well later.0 -

Think you may have to pay a large deposit at reception - as previous person said though I would check with the hotel - we go to the US a lot and some hotels will insist that you leave a card - don't know what they would do if you didn't have one0
-
Try lastminute.com, they take payment from the card used on booking, or as suggested before - Expedia, Travelocity etc. But you will still be asked for a card on check-in to cover extras, if you dont have one the will ask for cash deposit, if not you wont be able to charge anything - bar/restaurant/room service etc to your room.0

In italy, not usa, i have often booked hotels and paid when i left, i gave card details when i booked but then paid with a different card when i was there. I know you'll have paid for the room but for the other bits if you felt comfortable and you do have a card but don't want to spend anything on it you could leave the card and then at the end pay anything you owe with cash, ive never had a problem with this as they're still getting their money, but you should check with the hotel that if you give them a card you could still chose to pay with cash instead, i guess with a card they have backup!0

Normally they take a swipe of a card as a pre-authorisation. f you dont have a card, you might be best checking with the hotel to see what their policy is.0
