They will all ask you for a credit card when you check in (even if you've pre-paid) to cover room service, mini-bar, mucky videos, etc. They'll probably look at you a bit strangely when you say you don't have a card. I should ring/e-mail them in advance and ask what their policy is with regards to paying in cash - they may want a deposit. The crappier the hotel, the less likely they will want a large deposit.

For pre-pay prices have a look at the usual suspects - Expedia, Ebookers, Octopus, Hotels - all through Quidco.

I'm as bad, one day it's a $200 meal at Switch and a couple of days later it's $3.95 breakfast at La Salsa Cantina.

We're the same - one day at Bouchon, the next at Burger King :rotfl:
I must try Nathans at some point too.....

If anyone is looking for a cheap (pretty tacky in a fun way) place to stay, I recommend Excalibur! They have some cheap deals on their website it's centrally located and usually a pretty good deal!

I like Excalibur and cant work out why so many people dont

A lot of people who slag it off haven't stayed there but are going on it's overall reputation as a kid/family friendly place, etc...also, somewhere like Vegas with so many options available at decent prices, a lot of people won't consider it or if they do, they've found something better for not a dramatic amount more money. We used to stay there and it was perfectly fine for us, but we much prefer mid-strip now. We rarely had issues with loads of kids at Excalibur, but the one time we did (there over NYE so US school holidays) it was absolutely horrific...so I can see how anyone who stayed there over a big holiday would write the place off immediately - if we hadn't stayed there before when it was fine, we would never have gone back assuming it was always that horrid.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Location is poor. If we don't stop mid-strip then it better be a better quality than Excalibur to make up for the location. Also as its a cheaper option and on the books of companies such as TC, it attracts the football shirt wearing trash that quite often you've had to pur up with on a 10 hour flight.

    Hi all,

Hope that you can help. I am off to LV on 0th May my 50th. I have decided that i have to fly direct so have booked with Virgin, the problem is as this was a last minute thing, when i selected seat there was very few options avaialble. The off shot is the wife and i are not seated together.

Do you know if the check in desk will help to rearrange this for us? Will it help to get to chk in first? Any chance of an upgrade..... bad seat, 50th birthday etc, what do youe clever people think.

Ps i will like a taker on the site and raely have anything to pass back to you all :( , maybe i can set myself a task of finding out a litle gem on LV that you have all previously missed :) (some hope)

    Cheers all

    Steve

Check in online exactly 24 hours before your flight time and you should get two seats together. A percentage of seats are held back until then and won't show up online as being available before that. A lot of people will be checking in online at the same time so you need to be quick.

Also keep checking the seat selection online between now and then as people can log in and change seats around and you may just get lucky.
