morning :hello:
finally the kids are sleeping a bit longer; ds got up at 6.30 and dd at 7 :j
only a month ago we struggled to keep them in bed till at least 6am!!
i might start putting some breakfast out for them but what?!?
i don't trust them with pouring their own milk just yet.
hmm, maybe a sandwich in the fridge? or dry cereals - my son loves it
and maybe juice for a starter till i get up so they can have their milk?
and i also need to teach dd to dress herself. she's just so much lazier than her brother ever was - he always wanted to do everything himself from an early age!
haven't done much since i am up really, just fed the kids and put the d/w on!
really need to get them dressed now so i can drop them off at nursery at 9 - only a half day today but hey, we take what we can get0 -
Have achieved quite a bit this morning; already had uniforms and clothes out last night, OH made sandwiches for DS1 lunch;
breakfast things already out so breakfast was a doddle and I even had time to make DS1 a bacon butty before school
DS2 was 'timed' to see how quickly he could get dressed by himself!
all washing up done
got washing on
put ironing away
got dishwasher on
cleaned kitchen and hoovered downstairs
DS2 about to help with the dusting
have made dinner for tonight; just need to put it in the oven later
Then I'm off for a coffee with a friend later and DS2 and I are goign to the library and then to feed the ducks
Have got a top-tip:
I have taken all my scrappy bits of paper off the noticeboard in the kitchen and filed them or written the numbers in my address book; now I've put the kids pictures on the noticeboard so I'm still displaying their work but it makes the rest of the kitchen walls look tidy and uncluttered! That's Numberwang!0 -
Morning all! Can't believe what everyone has managed to fit in already this morning!
I woke up with a sensible head on and not upset over the dryer today! So the washing is spread out over the radiators at present and OH is currently pulling apart the dryer to see if he can see what the problem is. If not, then I have my eye on a huge 8kg capacity dryer by Hoover for only £150 so a re-budget will have to be in order. At least all the washing is done - barr yesterdays stuff so thats in the washer now being done.
But for me, todays job is the hall stairs and landing areas. It needs a mass clean - having so many little ones mean dirty fingerprints on the walls going along the stairs and its a really light colour in the hall, so shows up! It needs a repaint really, but has to be washed down first, so thats my job today - a good going through that area.0 -
Morning, I've been up for four hours and achieved precisely nothing apart from coffee at the school. Feeling very lethargic but will now go and make an effort.0

Morning all
Very similar start to Biscotte today...haven't done much yet and distinctly demotivated. Have managed some of my dailies so at least I'm keeping my head above water.
I think I'm going to take it easy this afternoon - I'm planning to take DD to the petshop after playgroup as she wants to buy some toys and some millet spray for her budgie. We've only had him a couple of weeks but he's already quite spoilt!
I am attempting to sort through her clothes whilst she's out - there's loads in her drawer that she doesn't wear any more. Be good to get a bag together for charity.
Right, I'm off to give myself a kick in the rear!
Have a good day

Hi Everyone!
Prepare for a bit of a ramble... I like to talk!
Wow everyone's working really hard! Reading through the posts I’m beginning to feel thoroughly ashamed of my poor excuses! On the plus side, having re-read this post several times I’ve now realised they are excuses and figured out the answer to my own problem! My issue was that I work a shift pattern completely different to my fianc!, however I'm going to figure out what needs doing 'desperately' each day and what needs doing when I have more time. Then when I'm on a shift that's say, 11am then I may not have time to get extra stuff done, when I'm on a 1pm shift I can get stuff done.
If anyone else has any tips then please let me know.
BTW, I realised after I'd put it, no one will understand my 'best year ever' joke… Every NYE I say that and it's almost like it jinxes either the night (or the whole year)... Last year was probably the worst but also the best (NYE someone told me my fiance was gonna propose in 11 days time so that wasn't great but then the proposing was fab and then I was made redundant so that was horrible).
However, this year, I said that and we had a lovely NYE, we've got various emotional issues on track and we both have jobs and our health. I am slowly getting my money issues sorted and joining this post has made me realise that I really should have routines in place if mothers have more than one child can do it, I really ought to as well!
So my new years resolutions are... to sort my finances once and for all (this means getting out of my overdraft and being organised with it all - well I'm getting there) and looking after myself. The latter covers a multitude of sins… I have IBS and Sciatica so I'm going to make an effort not to eat the food that upsets me and do the exercises that are supposed to help with the sciatica. There's also the standard one of trying not to eat junk food (especially if I'm paying as I have no money) and getting more exercise (I'm trying to walk to and from work). And I've now added to it that to give myself a break I'm going to work out routines and try to stick to them, so I'm not beating myself up and so that in the future when I hopefully have children I will already be in good habits.
Well one thing I normally do is just after Christmas sort through all my filing and sometimes jewellary and stuff so this morning I have sorted through all my jewellary (I had 2 jewellary boxes, a stand and lots of it in little compartments in a cupboard and then I got rid of one stand, and got a new jewellary box for Christmas). I have tried to wear 'colour co-ordinating' bracelets and then the same earrings, necklace (hard to put different ones on sometimes, especially in a hurry) and rings every day. So I've now put all my other necklaces and jewellary away (I want to keep it to hand if I'm wearing a special outfit or want to show someone an item for sentimental reasons - my initial intention had been to put it all in the loft) and arranged the stuff I'll wear so that I can just grab it, slip it on and go. Oh and 'cheap' jewellary that has no sentiment attached to it is put to one side to either give to my future sister in law (14y) or to go as 'cracker' contents because I decided from next Christmas I shall try to make crackers.
I also got new make up brushes for Christmas so will be sorting those and my make up out shortly (I thought I'd better stop for my first drink of the day and something to eat).
Actually that reminds me of something. I can't remember who it was but someone was saying about bagging up clothes and putting them in the loft. Why not give them to charity or a friend rather than taking up valuable space in the loft? I say this because someone I know put everything in their loft and it was a nightmare to sort it out recently (well, we didn’t manage it) and we found clothes from the 1980’s up there! Our recycling kerbside service allows us to put clothes out.
So what I’ve achieved so far… Yesterday I finished sorting out our spare room so that we can actually get to stuff. As I mentioned previously it becomes a dumping ground, like a giant hot spot. Well on Wednesday I did most of the sorting out and then yesterday I finished the cupboard. I could check the under bed boxes but I have a feeling they’re pretty much ok so I’ll do those later when I need to get something/ put something away.
Oh and those of you struggling to remember appointments... My fiance and I have been together 5 years and it's only been these last few months when I've been doing a rota so need to check my diary that I've finally worked out the best way (at the moment!) to organise each other... He uses his work calendar for things that he needs to remember (I just have to send him stuff from work or email him and tell him to put it in his calendar) and I keep track of stuff in my handbag sized diary. As I say, I always forgot to read it before I did shift patterns so it may not last but it works for now...
Anyway, I should probably stop writing lots of rubbish and actually try to think of some routines and read the other pages for tips!
Well done everyone so far!0 -

Having just read one of the posts I thought I ought to contribute something worthy in this post so I thought I'd tell you what I have sorted so far...
When my fiance and I moved in together we had a discussion about chores. I wanted to do clothes washing the way my mum did... an economy 7 timer, one load a night, out the next morning. My fiance didn't like the idea of clothes sitting wet all night so I said 'if you have a better idea, you do it'. So he does our joint clothes washing. I hate cooking. He likes it, so he does the cooking. I don't dislike cleaning so I clean the house and tidy things. I lay the table (ok I don't) and clear up after dinner (ok I don't). We also have a rule that if I cook, he clears up. We have a dishwasher and I choose to clean our pets 'crockery' in the sink as well as other 'delicate' or hard to deal with items. He deals with car questions, the outside and the guinea pig. I pay for our cats vetinary treatment etc whilst he buys their food in our weekly shop. Oh and the biggy that people comment on, he makes my 'lunch' for work, whilst I iron his work clothes. The latter because he claims I do it better than him, apparently his colleagues commented and I learnt from my Brownie handbook and have never found a better way!
So...
He cooks, I tidy up
He does the clothes washing, I do the cleaning of the house
He makes work pack lunches, I do his ironing
The only trouble is, currently the house ends up in a tip and I try to do all the cleaning and tidying in one day. He also ends up doing 'my' chores because they get left and then it annoys him so he does them. Which is lovely but I feel bad (rather than pampered) and get irritated with him. So I really want to get stuff sorted.
I do have some stuff sorted, though, like we both having filing trays and cabinets so all that stuff gets put in one place and there's no mad panics, hunting for stuff, I try to recycle/ reuse and be creative with things where possible and occasions like Christmas I don't leave until the last minute, I have things in my diary so write cards early, etc. Unfortunately, because I do that kind of stuff it probably explains why the house gets left, lol!0
