SAHM's getting organised in 2009!

Lets get organised...lets give our tips, plans and progress here. Anyone with me?

My plans are to....
  • set meal times and snack times
  • menu plan
  • have a weekly routine (errands and laundry on a monday, ironing tuesday, clean the house wednesday...)
  • make plans for outings with my dd (soft play, rhymetime, park...) so we're never bored
  • set play times and make a list of ideas (painting, reading, building, make believe...)
  • organise my daughter's room and put complete outfits on hangers so I never have to search for components (tights/t shirt etc)
  • organise my daughter's toys instead of everything just being in a big jumbled heap:o
  • only go on the internet for an hour a day and only during her naptime
  • get up and dressed, make up on etc straight away
I'm sure I'll have more but that is a start :p

Here's a list of the SAHMs getting organised in 2009!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Can I join in, even though I'm only at home 2 days during the week please? Or should I start a 'part time SAHM's getting organised in 2009'??

For me, the hardest thing is remembering to give them a bath!
I have drawn up a chart which DS1 and DS2 need to follow to get ticks; three ticks in one section lets them choose a book/game after dinner, etc. So far it seems to be working well.

I too plan to have a 'plan' for the week, so that I don't then spend my two days at home cleaning / ironing / batch cooking / shopping / running errands / surfing on the internet!!
    That's Numberwang!

I'm in. I've not gone much beyond thinking about menu planning at the moment, but I'll be rejoining the flylady thread on OS. Oh yes, and trying to get organised enough to do a weekly online shop - can't do much in the way of lifting at the moment.

Motivation is my big failing right now....I think about the things that need doing, but then a great sense of apathy comes over me. Arrgh!

Another problem I'm having is that we lived over 40 miles from our families until earlier this year...now that we're much closer to them they all want to come and visit, don't get me wrong, I love to see them, but for 3 days out of 5 there's someone here. The rest of the time I'm running in circles trying to keep things in order.

I think that's the big thing I'm going to have to tackle in the next couple of weeks....I need a lot more space to get things done.

  • Count me in, There is Me and DF and our 3 kids all living a smallish 3 bed flat so life now needs organising badly and 2009 is the year for it

    i want to :
    • Organise my Kitchen to work more efficivly
    • Learn how to budget and meal plan properly
    • Sort out the toys ect
    • Rearrange the bedrooms
    • oh and finally get round to decorating the flat after 6 and a half years here lol
so come on SAHM lets keep each other motivated and let 2009 be the year of the organised mum lol
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute
  • I'm in :-)

Will have a think and set myself some things to aim for!!

I definitely need to spend less time on the internet, I need to sort out what we are eating a bit better, get into a routine for my housework etc... Maybe change a bit at a time otherwise I am setting myself up to fail I think!

How old are everyone else's little ones?

Lalaladybird, you could edit your first post and add us all to it with a challenger number or something? They do that on other challenges!

My little one is 2 and a half, and we have another due in August. I want to get things a little more scheduled before our baby arrives, but I know the new baby will throw the schedule for a loop again.

We already meal plan for our evening meal, but I am thinking of mealplanning for the lunch meals as well (somewhat loosely as needed) and snacks in order to make better use of time and groceries.

I am going to start doing some web searches in the evening after LOs bedtime to find different art activities that I can do so we're not always doing the same thing. And if I'm mealplanning snacks as well, then we can use cooking or baking as a fun activity some days.

  • Hello-I would love to join as from next Thursday I will be a SAHM-hooray! I've got a DS who is nearly three and a baby due very very soon! I will find out a date on Friday as the baby is breech and I need to have a planned section-my original due date was 24th Jan but ds came 10 days early so not sure when they will book me in-rather surreal having it all planned out this time but can do nothing about it and does mean that I can get myself organised this time! I finish work next thursday as I am currently working 4 days a week and am off for 9months or more and if I do go back after that will only do a couple of days. Ds will be doing three mornings at the local preschool as he is a very sociable chatterbox but I need to get myself organised with a routine for the baby and son asap so things run smoothly without too much disruption. My aims are
    1. to get the baby in a good routine
    2. to get out for a walk with both children everyday
    3. To keep Ds entertained with fun activites each day and to keep the telly off!
    4. To meal plan lots of healthy snacks and meals for us all.
    Phew!

I'm in too, I could do with organising things around here.

    So,
    1) meal planning to keep the food bill down to something which doesn't dwarf the third world debt.

    2) have a proper housework plan, at the moment I just go around firefighting all the time.

    3) try to get the baby into a bit more of a routine

    4) Make sure I get out once a day

    5) go to the flippin heath visitor clinic, I'm a lot slacker with this baby than I was with the others.

I'm definately in too! My plan's are to:

    Get dressed first thing,

Get my 'morning' routine sorted eg try and get up/ dressed before little one is up.

Get my chores done/ stuff for next day organised the night before!!

Go to bed at 10 otherwise I am too tired the next day.

Meal plan and plan jobs for the week ie errands on mon, hoovering on tue!

Be a real fly baby :)

Good luck everyone, and hope I can stick to it.
  • Hi I'm in too. I'm officially a SAHM but I do voluntary work four days a week so really I guess I'm part time;) Hubby works away Mon-Fri.

I have an almost 6yr girl old and an almost 3yr old boy.

I'm agoraphobic, suffer from panic attacks and mild depression. When I'm low I do nothing around the house except feed and dress the kids and get them too school and sometimes that's a struggle. Having just come out of a low ebb I don't have a room I can walk through without stuff on the work surfaces and floor so that is my priority. Especially the bin bags of old clothing that need to go to the charity shop. Really wish I could drive, or even just get out the house:rotfl:

I also need to look at meal planning and family activitys and general organisation. Will be taking it a step at a time as when I'm up I can take on the world and usually bite off more than I can chew.
