Lalaladybird, you could edit your first post and add us all to it with a challenger number or something? They do that on other challenges!

Done :D, hope I have done it right. Glad to have so many mummies with me in this challenge xxx

    Can I join in too??

I need to organise myself and could fit in more activities with the kids. I don't rota housework anymore as I now do it when I think it needs to be done, but at least once a week. Laundry is on-going in this house, as is tidying. And I am already an anti-hoarder and regularly go through clothes and old toys etc and recycle/dump/pass on/sell what I can.

But with 5 kids and 2 adults in a 2-bed house, I have to! But I need to be organised with the kids a bit more. Okay, school runs etc are off to a fine art now, but its making time to get the kids out and the make and do I need tips for. And more meal planning. Need to do a major diet in the new year, so it should all tie-in nicely.
  • Hi Ladies

I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread, I am not by far a super organised person but I do have a routine that works really well for us. I have 2 DD age 5 and 2 and work 2 days a week.

Mon- work (every 3rd week shopping after workish)
Tues - coffee morning at local church 50p, home for lunch by 12.30. (every couple of months we walk via babyclinic and get DD2 weighed) From 1pm we either play something like playdoh or go for a nice walk before picking DD1 up from school. Rainbows after school.
    Wed - work
Thurs - either a playcentre/park with picnic or a local music class with friends.(Shopping every 3rd weekish in evening)
Fri - nice walk in morning, lunch at home and cleaning all afternoon, start at top of house and work down.
Sat - swimming lessons am, see friends/family pm play with toys. Sort ironing pile and do childrens in evening.
Sunday - family day (lots happens, days out etc), do adult ironing in morning while everyone getting ready for day.

I only shop every 10 days and every morning I get up at 6.15am, before we leave for school the beds are all made, bathroom cleaned round, hoovered in front room, washing on and all washing up done. Leaves whole day then for us.
The night before I get all clothes out, pack bags, make sure shoes and coats are where they should be and that my handbag has keys and purse in it. The kitchen is left spotless with nothing on the drainer before bed so in the morning it runs like clockwork.
We eat dinner every night at 5.30 and children bathed fairly soon after, then in summer eldest goes out to play (we live in bottom of a culdesac) and in winter we play board games, do colouring, play hide and seek (girls love this but does end up with a lot of shrieking!). Generally while one parent bathes the girls the other tidies through the kitchen, living room is mostly done before DH return from work ready for dinner and bath and then family time. Bed for children is 7.30pm.

Every 6mths I have a blitz week where all cupboards, drawers etc get emptied and cleaned and lots is thrown out.

Just thought I'd add my routine, wouldn't work for everyone. I think being at home some days is sooo hard altho wouldn't swap it :)
I'll keep up with this thread as always some better time and money saving ideas to be had.

  • I'm going to adapt something from the flylady thread to here, the MACAW challenge - **Make A Change A Week**.

So starting from tomorrow (will be a short week this one!) I am going to set my alarm and get up early, at 0630 as DD usually wakes around 7.
Next week (starting Mon) my change will be to get washed and dressed before 7.

Anyone want to join me doing it like this? I think I will find it easier as its not too much all at once!!

Edited to Add: You don't have to do the same change as me each week, just the idea of one change a week..

    Hi all.
Sarahsarah I'll join you. I recently moved house and with xmas and four kiddies am still soo unorganised, getting up before the kids would be a brilliant idea (if I can drag myself out of bed)!!

can I join please I'm a shambles at the moment and want to get organised!! At present the house is a mess, I can only just get Lo to toddler group by making ds1 late for school and I really want to look for a (part time) job but feel I won't cope while I'm so disorganised.

I haven't read the thread yet but I'd like to take ds2 to more todddler activities, see friends more (my social life is non existant at the moment and I'm losing touch with people as I never do anything), get the house and garden to a standard I can cope with, start teaching/getting ds1 to help more/some around the house and make more effort with my appearance (weight to lose and praps a bit more time spent on myself in the mornings rather than the look, wipe and run for it I currently do).

There may be more but that will do for now :D .

Anyway I think a more organised day will help me so I'll be reading all the tips on here and trying to get more organised as from new years day. At present all routine is dictated by school and I have a great bedtime routine (tea, up the stairs, bath, dressing, songs, stories milk and bed) but Lo is getting too big for feeding to sleep so I'm gonna have to tinker with that soonish. ds1 however is a different matter and his bedtimes are always a challenge. .
