hi another to join.....
I have 3 children and one due in May and i'm very much hoping to get more organised too!
Mine are 11,8 and 2.
Thought i would mention my new discovery-Trofast by Ikea!! I am about to order some more as its so great for sorting kids toys and being able to keep the floor clear, not too pricey and sturdy too, i have a long way to being organised though!
Its hard to plan properly though as i find the tiredness kicks in when i want to get stuck into something,so i trying to do what i can before slipping back on the net again for a rest, trying to limit it though!
Have been out for a walk with the family today, trying to make that a daily thing in future!!
Look forward to organising with you;)0 -
Hi,
Can I join in too please?
I have three children (two boys aged 16 and 12) and a little girl who is 13 months old. Desperately want to get organised this year and to make my internet time much less but more productive, rather than just browsing for hours on end!
I have sorted out DD's wardrobe today and taken out all the clothes she has grown out of, they are just waiting to be packaged up and put in the loft for now... haven't done much else today other than sit and watch Poirot this afternoon whilst little one had her nap!
Look forward to getting organised with you all
Great idea for a thread, thank you :T
Just editing to say Lalaladybird - can I copy your signature and use it in mine please? Think it will give me more motivation if I see that everytime I post.
Will be off to join the Flylady thread now, have been a lurker for ages but this thread gave me the urge to post... probably won't be able to stop posting now!!:j "I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. Hi can i join too please?I have 3 boys, 6yrs 3 and 10 months and ever since my little one has been crawling and not napping so much have got totally disorganised! As soon as i do manage to tidyup the house seems to be a mess again! The boys have way too much stuff but everytime i have a 'sort out' xmas and birthdays replace the items i've got rid off!We only have a small three bed terrace so really need to get organised, even the loft is full to capacity with clothes, toys etc for the younger ones to grow into.
I also find it hard leaving the house dead on 825am for the walk to school, and three times a week to get no 2 to nursery at 8am,(hubby likes to get his moneys worth!). I have also been forgetting all sorts of appointments so need to make a load and make sure i put them in the diary and remember them!
You have all encouraged me and i have made a start on the space issue by sorting out half a binsack of charity shop stuff today,i do think less stuff means less stress! Looking forward to reading all your posts and ideas!xgrocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000 -

Trofast..... oh... swoon....
We have this downstairs for the toys. Its wonderful! Just chuck it all away for that clean and tidy look! Technically, we have seperate drawers for different types of toys, but it doesn't last long.
And you can get Trofast with plastic doors and drawers now for wardrobe combos that match the rest.
Oh... I have to get my head out of the Ikea catalogue! Can't afford anything I really want and don't have the room to fit it.0 -
put me in too please!!! have 4 children 8,6,3,11 months and baby no 5 arriving 16th feb!

So starting from tomorrow (will be a short week this one!) I am going to set my alarm and get up early, at 0630 as DD usually wakes around 7.
Next week (starting Mon) my change will be to get washed and dressed before 7.
Anyone want to join me doing it like this? I think I will find it easier as its not too much all at once!!
Edited to Add: You don't have to do the same change as me each week, just the idea of one change a week..Ok so I didnt make it up before the kids. The girls had stayed up to see in the New Year and the boys were sleeping, until the neighbours let off fireworks and the police came flying down the street chasing someone so at 1.30am I had four kiddies in my bed all having a great laugh!! Anyway even though we had a late start am definitely slightly more organised today, christmas decs are down and the house is back to normal, fixed a couple of niggly things that needed done in the girls room and am about to go and paint the hall at last so progress is being made!!
:hello: Hi to everyone else thats joined!!Finally, I can see you crystal clear0 -
Trofast...yes, that's the thing we need! We're hoping to go to Ikea soon to get the furniture for DDs room, and Trofast was something we looked at before. We have a choice of store - it's about the same distance for us to go to Bristol, or to Milton Keynes. Either way, it's a day out!
DD has got this idea of a 'fairy bedroom' - white furniture, white metal bed frame, etc, etc, so along with pink walls it's going to be quite girly!
The clearance is going well - I managed to spend a good 2 hours in her room before I needed to surface for air - and I've thrown out a binbag full of junk. There's half a bag for the charity shop too....
The menu plan is pretty much there - two more meals to add and I'm done, and that means I can take a trip to the dreaded supermarket tomorrow (OH is home so the heavy lifting can be done by him!). Haven't got much to get, so shouldn't be too long.
Hope everybody had a profitable day - come on ladies, we can get organised!

I've had chance to go through my new "cleaning routine" this afternoon. Since I did my last one we've had an extension so more tweaking has been required on top on having to juggle stuff around onto different days due to being pregnant and not having the stamina to do as much as I use to. I'm including my "must do jobs" (I'm not gonna beat myself up about it if I'm not up to it though
) and my "if I can be bothered jobs", these are my once a month/in a blue month/hardly ever/are you joking jobs
.
Monday
Must do - Clean bathroom, clean kitchen floor & wipe all surfaces and cupboards.
If I can be bothered jobs - Clean windows, deep clean microwave/oven/hob/fridge, clean out cupboards.
Tuesday
Must do - Dust and hoover bedrooms, change bedding.
Bovvered? - Clean windows, declutter toys/wardrobes
Weds
Must do - Dust/tidy up and hoover toy room. Clean bathroom. Empty bins and sort recycling for Thurs collection.
Thurs
Must do - Dust and clean laminate in lounge. Water plants.
Bovvered? - Clean window, hoover sofas, clean brass fire surround
Fri
Must do - Clean bathroom and kitchen floor.
Bovvered? - clean front door and outside porch
Most of these jobs will get done whilst DD is at nursery every morning between 9 and 11.30. In the evenings I've had a think about what needs doing next week and also in the longer term or at least before the new baby arrives in April. DD goes back to nursery next monday so will start then.
Next weeks to do's are..
1. write DD's xmas thank you cards
2. Put all xmas presents in rightful place (am tempted to avoid saying the bin!)
3. Remove anything from the hotspot that is the top of the fridge
4. File away the 6 inch high wedge of paperwork that has been collecting quite nicely over the last 4 months.
5. Meal Plan, Meal Plan, Meal Plan
Longer term to do's are.....
1. Paint hall and cupboard doors and get them put back up (!)
2. Get photo's printed up from the past 3.4 years and into photo albums
3. Declutter the 8 drawer unit in the hall.
4. Ebay the few dozen or so things I have and keep on top of Ebaying as and when it surfaces.
5. Redecorate DD's new bedroom ready for new baby to go into her old one. Have already decluttered this room :A .
So, this should make me super organised so me and DD can enjoy our afternoons together. We generally go to my M&D's on 2 afternoons a week and MIL's 1 afternoon. The other afternoons are often spend doing either baking, crafty things at home, going to library, park, shopping etc, weather permitting.
Sarahsarah - My DH has been off for a lot of Dec too, he's been cleaning out the oven and hob bless him. Am kind of going to miss him when he goes back next week :rotfl:. I'm due a couple of weeks after you on the 28th, hope you're feeling ok, I'm starting to slow down now I'm getting bigger, dread to think how big I'm gonna get, I was huge with DD1.
Right, sorry for the mega long post. I feel much better I've got it all down and hope I'll be able to stick to it or at least some of it :rotfl:0 -
Right, I have spent the best part of today avoiding a culinary disaster in the kitchen.
This is my plan for the next couple of days:
Friday - make most of hubby being at home and tidy bedroom and sort out 'stash' of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, presents, etc., so that I know exactly what I've bought and don't need to buy
Then take DS1 for a swim as a reward (for me!) :T
Saturday - tidy out spare room; the ironing pile is taller than me. Pair up all odd socks  Then go out for the day with the boys so that I don't feel like I've spent the whole Christmas holidays doing housework
Sunday - lost day really, I need to spend it planning lessons, marking books, etc., etc. Also plan to get my 12 part divider folder up and running; one section for each month of the year; anything that needs to be filed for a particular month goes in there. This I will cross-reference with a 31 section folder for each day of the month; so, for example, if my mate's birthday is 17th Jan, then her card will go into day 15 so that i have time to post it. This is something I used to do at work and it was REALLY effective, although it sounds a bit fiddly.
Hubby and boys to be in charge of taking down the tree and putting all the decs away in a VERY orderly fashion
Monday - DS2 back at Nursery, DS1 at Grandparents; I plan to put up DS2s new blackout blinds, wash the carpets downstairs :A and clean bathroom floor, then go look for a new toilet seat (our one 'pinged' off on Boxing Day) and price up a new bathroom.
Back to work on Tuesday ... I want to hit the ground running. Stupidly booked in a meeting after school on the first day back ... hey ho, at least I know what I'm having for tea.
Hopefully I can then on Wednesday start a cleaning rota ... as all my surfaces will be clutter free :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:That's Numberwang!0
