I've just done an inventory of my freezer, and wrote a list of everything that's in there.. It's only a small one attached to the fridge but you'd be surprised at how things can still get lost in there!
    I've rearranged it so:
    • Top Drawer =
      • Meat (divided into portions)
      • Ready Made Meat Products (ie pies, lasagne)
    • Middle Drawer =
      • Fish
      • Bread Products (eg cobs, crumpets, croissants)
      • Buffet things (eg mini indian snacks, cocktail sausage rolls)
    • Bottom Drawer =
      • Frozen Veg
      • Quorn and Veggie Stuff
Hopefully I will be able to find things now! And saved myself having too much in, eg was going to buy some frozen sweetcorn tomorrow but already have some in.
Need to make an effort to use up the huge bag of cocktail sausage rolls, think I will do some every Sunday Tea time for the little one!!

Edited to Add:Just realised I don't have much in there for an emergency last minute tea, eg potato waffles, oven chips etc. No wonder I'm always peeling potatoes! Will add waffles/smiley faces and oven chips to to my shopping list for an easy tea every week or so! Oh and an emergency pizza!

Shopping done and away, DD went for her physio appointment and during that I wrote two letters and I'm just starting my 'evening' jobs (Dinner/tidy up kind of stuff)

triggles a 'defrost-list' sounds like a great idea! i really need to get back into menu planning - with the kids off and all the holidays i totallly slipped :o

i finally finished the filing - all put away and OH has started on shredding!
i also checked our money statements and we didn't spend as much on our holiday as we feared we had :j

collected kids at 3pm and ever since they are actually playing 'with each other'!!!!!:T

so i managed to cook dinner - needed to be early because OH works nights.

might get myself a cuppa and actually sit down for a while [note to myself: drink more!!!! ... and no alc inculded :rotfl:]

    Hi All
Hope it's all going well. Like the idea of a defrost list Triggles...might be something that I borrow (if you don't mind!) as I often forget to get things out to thaw.

I agree that flylady can become a chore in itself and I found I was spending ever increasing amounts of time doing my routines when I followed it over 2 years ago. I don't mind the idea of getting some things into routine, but filling another 15 minutes here and there with 'little tasks' became tedious. I rejoined the official site back in October/November hoping to kick start myself, but every time I see an email from them (there are loads every day) I find myself becoming irritated. The ones that really pee me off are the ones that say 'just in case you missed last nights email....'. What's that all about .

One of my tasks tomorrow is to unsubscribe from it! I'll keep going with the flylady thread on the OS board, though, as I find that quite inspiring. And it doesn't make me feel guilty if I don't manage to do more than one task - I'm not being bombarded with email.

Anyway, today has been a good'un again and I've achieved loads! Have done my dailies, changed sheets, cleaned out the airing cupboard, sorted OHs jeans and jumper heap - I'm afraid if I don't do it, then it will continue to loom - and hoovered the entire house.

I've also made blueberry muffins, run some errands - including queuing in the post office for ever - and given myself some time in the local fabric shop. I bought DD some jeans when Woolworths were selling off their stock - 80p a pair. Needless to say, she's refusing to wear them....so I'm appealing to her girly nature and have bought some flowers and butterflies to sew on them....not above a bit of bribery, that's me! I've also had a really good look at the fabric and have some ideas for a throw for her bed.

Sarahsarah: I'm the same, I've got nothing in the freezer for an 'emergency' meal. I've got loads of single portion stews and casseroles, but nothing that could be cooked from frozen. Will have to address this I think as OH or other relative will be expected to feed DD when I'm in hospital....I don't want them relying on takeaways! (Although neither DD nor OH would complain at Chinese or Indian every night!).

Right, that's me off to the sofa....OH will be back from work in a mo' so I'll be cooking his dinner - not as drastic as it sounds as it's just a stirfry. After that, it's me time.

Hope you all have a great evening.

    ARGH!!

Now - I am getting the place sorted but my appliances this week are going, one after the other!

Firstly the microwave went, which was a bummer as the bottle steriliser is a micro one. So, OH rushed the bottles to his Mums to clean then onto Argos for a new one. The new one is too small for the sterilser!!!! This problem was fixed when a friend from another forum sent me an electric sterilser she had no more need for.

But today. The BIGGEST disaster of them all.... My tumble dryer has conked out. NOOOOO..... Fortunately I had just finished the last wash load and emptied the basket (until the kids got home from school - LOL!) I don't have £150 for a new one. But will have to find it as I cannot use an airer - I simply don't have the space for one.
  • Another day of very little cleaning as it's already been done earlier in the week :D. So after picking up DD from nursery I suggested going shopping to Morrisons to pick up some baking stuff, as we are low on chocolate sprinkles and icing sugar. Of course she said yes, so off we went and I was able to do the weekly shop as well instead of doing it tomorrow whilst she's at nursery :rotfl:. She also helped me with the recycling whilst there, passing me the plastic bottles so I can post them, my back is stating to hurt so don't like to bend down too much, thanks to mummy's little helper ;)

So we came home and baked apple cakes and shortbread. She was in her element, bless :). After that we did some sticking (all the xmas chocs wrappers saved ;)). Again she was zonked and asked to go to bed straight after tea :D .

It's great having done all my main jobs early in the week I'm now getting the benefits and doing what this thread is all about and spending more time with DD. Just hope it all doesn't go to pot when baby number 2 arrives

    kids are in bed :j
and for the 2nd evening running i've put their clothes out for nursery tomorrow!!!

luckily our evening routine is easy going. they get their dinner, then playtime till 6.30 - then bath; lately they have it serperate because i got fed up with their fighting. so ds goes in and he gets himself washed and dressed; dd goes in and she plays for 20min and then calls me - then quick milk and dd asks to be put to bed; ds follows at 8 or sooner like he asked today - easypeasy :D

i can hear the chocolate calling me - but i am resisting!!!
i hope i can resist all the way through to tomorrow

Hi all, have been feeling very UNorganised this week, even forgot about my sons dental appt! However, have just finished cleaning the lounge, have taken all the ironing and filled an xtra large binsack with it which makes it look like i haven't so much ironing lol, have been good all week laying out the kids clothes the night before, getting up to make my cup of tea in bed half hour earlier than normal, and also making my ds1 his lunch box the night before and chopping up melon for breakfast for the boys the next morning.
Just wish hubby was more organised, he still hasn't put together my sons bike and it was his birthday yesterday and we've had it 5 wks!I had to show it to him in the box!!
Tomorrow am going to tackle the bathroom and the boys bedrooms where u can't see the floors!!But ds1 is having his cousin over to sleep this wkend so have to at least clear a path to the bed, normally the bedrooms are v tidy as i hate messy bedrooms but since xmas and family staying i can't get on top if it - also its my ds2 birthday party this wkend -looks like the lounge will be messed up again then lol!
I have decided tho that even if i'm cleaning at 11pm i'm going to spend more time with ds2 before he starts school this yr and ease off the constant tidying i do, as soon as i do one room they've messed up another lol!

  • Hi Everyone!
OMG Sarah44 you're amazing! I'm not that organised and I don't have children! I was going to say 'I'll half join as I'm not a SAHM' but I'm beginning to think I really need to get my act together! :)

Basically my mum's a teacher and really organised so I have caught some of it from her but my two downfalls are 'dumping' bags of stuff in our spare room to be 'sorted later' (a bigger problem now that my fiance has to dry clothes in there!) and my other issue is recycling... I save lots of bits of card and random stuff for 'doing things with' and when I was having a clear out today I discovered 3 boxes worth of random stuff that I had 'good intentions' with. This year at Christmas I did manage to use quite a lot of stuff for 'cheap' presents but it's going to take over soon so I really need to have a think about it and a stern talk with myself.

Well I've read 1.5 pages of this, copied Sarah's notes and am now feeling thoroughly ashamed of myself :) I have tomorrow off and Saturday when my fiance's off and a huge list of things to do so I think I'm going to have to go to bed soon so I can get up early and try to get more stuff done! :)

Happy New Year Everyone! As I keep saying 'this WILL be the best year ever!'
