Well, have organised myself enough to meal plan the next week before heading off to the shops tomorrow morning so that's a good start.

I really want to shift the last of the mega washing pile tomorrow - we brought so much stuff back from being away over Christmas and new year that it's taken me ages to catch up.

As promised, here is our meal planner; will type it in v. quickly as still have 1/2 set of books to mark!

Friday - Fish parcels (salmon drizzled in lime juice, black pepper, strips of red pepper and carrot on top, packed in tin foil) with rice and broccoli
Saturday - didn't eat in as we had lunch out Yipee
Sunday - Oriental chicken with rice, broccoli, peas and steamed carrot
Monday - Leek and sweet potato soup served with fresh rolls (slow cooker)
Tuesday - Macaroni cheese with courgette and butternut squash
Wednesday - Toad in the hole, broccoli, carrot, mashed potato
Thursday - chicken dippers with tomato and cucumber salsa (strips of chicken breast coated in breadcrumbs, baked)
    Friday - tuna pasta bake
Saturday - chilli con carne (freeze half to use another time)
Sunday - Gammon done in slow cooker, served with veggies and new potatoes (use up other half of butternut squash)
Monday - gammon and borlotti bean soup done in slow cooker
Tuesday - Fish pie with rosti potato topping, served with sweetcorn & broad beans
Wednesday - spicy tortillas (using up other half of chilli con carne)
Thursday - pork and pasta soup (slow cooker)
Friday - prawn and sweet potato curry (slow cooker)
Saturday - goulash (slow cooker; save half for another time)
Sunday - vegetable puff or chicken pie, depending on state of veggies in fridge!
Monday - veggie soup with homemade pizzas
Tuesday - jacket potatoes with tuna and sweetcorn and mixed pepper salad

Happy to add basic recipes but as they are all in my head there won't be any quantities!!

  • Right, my challenge for this fortnight is to do 2 flylady tastks each day. Yesterday I chose one with great intentions (clear & wipe kitchen surfaces) but when I got into the kitchen they were all very clean, having been done the night before in a rare act by my DF! So I cleared the plates & glasses and found all the other stray crockery, and put them in the dishwasher.

Today didn't go well either, my sister came round, so I didn't do any flylady jobs at all, but I have been to the shop, got DS weighed (his weight gain has slowed but I'm not worried as it had been going up faster than usual anyway) - which was fun, first clinic since before Christmas so very busy! And sorted out a load of washing. Tomorrow will go better.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

    Good morning everyone!:hello:
Although playgroup is on today, we are staying in because we are waiting for the housing people to collect our extra furniture. I will be fuming  if they don't show up!
So plan is as yesterday, going to get all my list done before 10am, then will do some painting with DD.
    1. Washing on - DONE
    2. Get me and DD washed and dressed - DONE
    3. Wash up breakfast Pots
    4. Tidy and clean round kitchen
    5. Hang wet washing on airer to dry - DONE
    6. Put yesterday's dry washing away - DONE
    7. 15 mins sorting in spare bedrrom (it's all summer clothes and baby clothes in various piles!) - DONE
    8. Make a start on menu plan and shopping list - DONE
Will check back in later to tick off what I've done!

I have such a horrible time keeping going with flylady. I might have to modify it some. First of all - the whole sink-shining thing - I don't HAVE a stainless steel sink - mine's some kind of funky beige material (I like it - but there is no shining involved in cleaning it!). But I did get quite a few things done yesterday during DS's nap, so I'm feeling better. Then I spaced and forgot to take out mince to thaw for tonight's tea - thank goodness 22yoDD is going into town, so she's going to pick up any spare items I need so I don't have to go into town today. More time for me to get things done! Yay!

I know exactly how you feel! Flylady can be a nightmare. I basically picked at choosed at what I want to achieve on a daily basis with the help of Flylady, and found what worked for me. Flylady can be fab for giving ideas but I don't know how anybody can follow it to the letter. Think the shiny sink thing is just something to focus on, but why not choose something else? With me it's my bathroom, which actually only gets cleaned every other day. One big lesson I taught myself was to live up to your own expectations, not to anyone else.

mOZzy - I have two lists on the fridge - one is the menu plan for the week, the other is the defrost schedule for the week - so I just have to look at it and see "Wednesday - beef mince" to know to take it out. Of course, last night I wasn't feeling well, and just completely forgot about it. grrrr
