Oh ... me too! me too! Can I join in?

I am just loving this thread!

I am a SAHM to a 14 month old little boy and so many things that I have read so far in this thread have rung true for me.

I too sometimes have so much to do that it is easier to just do none of it and take my little boy out. One of my new years resolutions is to get far more organised instead of letting things get on top of me and really getting me down.

I only have one baby but I also have one incredibly messy husband. I knew he was like that when I married him (even his family warned me, LOL!) and I have not been able to change him so far so am giving up hope of ever doing so.

He is a great husband and Dad in so many ways though and works very hard for the family so I can't get too cross at him. He just does not see mess at all .... he is absolutely the worst I could imagine in terms of organisation and keeping the house clean and tidy!

Anyway, my baby is in nursery this afternoon (he goes one afternoon a week to help him socialise with other children and so I can get on with jobs that I simply can't do when he is around) so I am making use of the time to tidy the garage, box up all the cardboard and other stuff from Christmas and go to the tip before I collect him.

I will try and add my 'new planned' routine tonight when I finally sit down! The idea is to absolutely maximise my time when poppet is sleeping or having quiet play on his own and get things done so I can spend more time playing with him and taking him out to new activities. He gets so bored when we are in the house on our own for too long!

Keep up the good work girls!

I've just had a mad crazy half hour and done most of the jobs I needed to do today and some that I missed out from yesterday too! :j Thinking about decluttering the living room bookshelves which is on my big to do list, but I am thinking I might delegate that to DH tonight!

Have heard from the housing people that they will be able to collect our unwanted furtiture on Thursday morning! That's good as then I can make a start on sorting the spare room out ready for DD to move in it, and we will be going to ikea on Saturday to get her junior bed! We've been waiting for them to collect the unwanted stuff since we moved here in August! I told DH over xmas that when he goes back to work he needs to phone them up every day till they come and get it, looks like it worked on the first try though!

Anyway I think I'll go and make some angel delight for later on today, yum yum. I'm craving so much milky stuff this pregnancy, rice pudding and custard and milkshake, I think this bubba will have very strong bones!

Thank goodness the kids are back at school...... Peace and quiet (more or less!) So started the clean up today.

So far, I have cleaned the bathroom, changed the shower curtain and new towels too (had an Argos gift voucher for Christmas so bought a new head board and spent the last few pounds on their value ranges for bathroom stuff - just for a quick perk up). Ensured that the new headboard was put up, and then pulled out our bed to clean under that.

Sorted out the girls room - clothes and toys generated 3 black bin bags of stuff, washed the window in their room and removed the mildew that was starting to form on the frames. Amy did her "room" yesterday and I am still on the wash loads from that - only number 4 so far this afternoon.....

Actually remembered to get chops out for dinner so they are defrosting now.

Tomorrow will be down the dump/recycling centre for our rubbish. Then its the living room - which is not going to produce any rubbish but is going to have a small change around as we need a little more space so we are getting a computer desk from MIL. Now - you may think it a little odd we are getting more stuff to create more space, but we have a fold up table/chairs that we use as the computer table, so its always out - a proper desk will mean that this can be folded away until dinner time each day.

Just got to do a quick tidy in the front room before OH comes home with the kids from school - little one has had out most of the toys today. Daddy helped her..... so his punishment was bracing the cold to get the girls from school!

    Hello all!

Have had another productive day - not as good as yesterday, but still managed to do quite a lot. Had the school walk this morning, which was very cold and a bit tiring. When I came back all I wanted to do was go back to bed. Needless to say, it was hard to keep motivated, but I did manage to get the tree and all decorations down, and finish all my dailies. I didn't run from the daily swish and swipe of the bathroom/downstairs loo either.

DD is only in school for 2.5 hours each morning (she doesn't go full time until September), so my days are quite fragmented. Another problem with keeping my motivation going.

I've also managed - taking from the fly lady thread - to sort my kitchen worksurfaces, and start the process of cleaning out my fridge...well only the door so far, but have had to deal with a mega-tantrum from DD, who I think is a bit tired after playgroup this morning. Also, in her year there are only 4 girls out of 16 pupils....so she tends to play with the boys. Nothing wrong with that, but her behaviour is very different afterwards. The floor has been swept and I've even cleaned the smoothie maker in readiness for a bit more healthy eating. In my defence, I have been meaning to use this since June last year and it's just been gathering dust.

This last half hour has seen me target a huge pile of paperwork on my desk, which I can now actually see the surface of....

Off to make a pizza and salad for tea now - they might be lucky and get some potato wedges with that too.

    Take it easy ladies!

Hi Can I join too? I have an 8 month old son and I desperately need organising as there's so much stuff I mean to do or need to do but never get round to it! I also need to take my son to more social things, at the mo we go to playgroup once a week (when I remember what day it is!). Most days I'm quite proud of myself if i manage to get us both dressed, fed nd dinner on the table for DH!!

I was just thinking it might be a good idea to highlight any tips we are passing on to each other in red so we can look back and find them easily. Does this sound like a good idea?
    Yes it does!

Today lets all sort out all the magazines and newspapers in our houses.....be ruthless and throw them away, if you haven't read it in a month you are unlikely to ever read it and it is just clutter :p
Great minds think alike; I did this the other day and rediscovered a whole load of healthy, quick and easy recipes!

I got myself a folder - kind of a display folder - that has plastic inserts instead of pages. I cut out all the recipies I wanted to keep and placed them in the folder. The plastic keeps the pages clean and dry when cooking and everything is at hand.

It means I can throw away the magazines they came from and I also don't have a collection of paper bits in the drawer.

Ohhhh! A tip! Need to change it to red then. (Unless anyone does not think its a tip, then I will begrudgingly change it back!)

I like the idea of being challenged to do something like this! Please do it every day, feel free to boss me about lol I do as I'm told! Call it a daily challenge then it makes it sound exciting lol!!!

This one doesn't apply to me, we only buy a paper on a Sunday, and even then not every week and it goes in the bin soon after. I rarely get any magazines so there are none lying around. DH buys xbox magazines but he keeps them in his drawer.. But I would have done it if I had any!
  • Hello, can I join? I definitely need to be organised this year!

I have made 26 goals and aim to make one change every 2 weeks, mainly because I couldn't think of 52 goals! :p Here they are in no particular order:

    1. Do washing as often as needed to keep laundry bin from overflowing
    2. Cook (or James cook) at least 5 nights a week
    3. Make meal plan and do shopping online every Tuesday
    4. Get outside once a day, even if I just sit in the garden, put the washing out, or walk to the shop or park.

    5. Have a shower every morning
    6. Brush teeth at least every night

    7. Go to the library once a week
    8. Start buying veg from the market & meat from the butcher

    9. Only use laptop on battery during the day
    10. Complete 2 flylady tasks per day
    11. Wash hair once every 3-4 days

    12. Have hair cut once every 6 weeks
    13. Work out a weekly budget once every month on the first Monday
    14. Do 20 minutes of exercise a day

    15. Do a daily routine of finishing touches - tidy toys, living room, wipe kitchen/bathroom, make beds.
    16. Hoover once every other day

    17. Plan a day with DF & DS at least once a month (Walks, swimming, etc.)
    18. Have a dental checkup once every 6 months

    19. Keep the dishwasher/washing up cycle moving

    20. Nappy routine - dirties in bucket and move into bin daily
    21. Eat lunch every day, and not just a yoghurt or packet of crisps!
    22. Brush hair every day

    23. Make sure DS is bathed at least once a week
    24. Go to bed before 11pm on normal nights (ie no visitors, at home)
    25. Put clothes back in drawers or laundry when I get undressed at night
    26. Let DS have some supervised nappy-free time each day (At least 30 mins)

A bit about me, I am 20 and a SAHM to my 3 month old DS Ryan. I am on maternity leave at the moment but when that finishes (In April) I hope to make enough from AQA (which I was doing before DS was born) that we can survive on DF's salary and I don't have to go back to work. My plan is also to get so organised at keeping the house clean that he doesn't want me to :rotfl:

I'm incredibly disorganised and don't seem to notice mess, and I spend far too long on the computer not doing anything useful! I also need to look after myself a bit better.

I'm picking my fortnightly challenges using an online random number generator, so they aren't going to be in order. If I get one which depends on another or I don't feel motivated towards that challenge that week, I will spin again for another number. That way I won't get bored!

This fortnight (1 Jan - 14 Jan) my challenge is:
    10. Complete 2 flylady tasks per day

I am probably going to put my progress on this challenge on my livejournal, so if anyone has one and wants to follow, or in case I drop off this thread, you can find that here: http://rumantic.livejournal.com/ My normal blog stuff is mostly about my DS, I am boring like that!
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
