  • From Reuters today... "Profit forecasts for M&S for the year to March 2009 have tumbled from over 1 billion pounds ($1.44 billion) a year ago to a current average of 618 million pounds, according to Reuters Estimates."

...their profits might be tumbling but they're still quite healthy!

I don't see how these businesses can suddenly decide they are going under. I think the ones at the top keep it quiet but know well in advance that they are in trouble and keep it quiet so they don't have to be loyal to their shoppers like zavvi did.

If people with vouchers/tokens/gift cards had heard whispers when they should have they would not be creditors now.
I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

The people who talk about the press scaremongering, should look at this thread!!

Anyone who may know about a firm shortly going in to adminstration will be at board level - and I suspect not on this forum, and certainly not on here broadcasting such news. Comments on any firms going bust on this forum are sheer poppycock and people should not fuel the fire. The more people scaremonger, the more firms will go bust, the greater chance that inflation will turn in to deflation, and we'll be in a whole lot worse a situation than i suspect anyone alive on this forum has seen before.

Do what you feel is right regarding your vouchers, but anyone who says they know this company is safe, they know this company is going under, does not know and you should not let them influence your decision.

The shop needs new managers to run it then.

When I was in retail I knew exactly what was being ordered 6 months in advance.

    well said,

I agree, i think people need to just take a step back and actually think about how many high street stores have been named within the few pages of this thread and realise that no-one really knows who will be next or if anyone will, its all guessing.
