From bits I have picked up Debenhans have been weak ever since venture capitalists took them over a few years ago. They have a lot of debt similar to what happened with Man U. I imagine refinancing the debt if needed would be a lot harder these days.

It is a worrying situation on the high street, yesterday a number of shops in the shopping centre where i work were visited by baliffs.. this included big named shops.

It's cash flow that usually stops trading, rather than lack of profit. It doesn't take long of low spending by customers to hit cash flow.

sorry i really don't know whats going on and what shops are going under but is next safe?? we got over 150 in next vouchers over Xmas and were not sure what to get with them.Should we be spending them asap?

15 Jan seems awfully convenient- i thought going into admin was an unplanned, last resort thing, based on recent failures?

perhaps 'they' are goiing to stiff their landlord for the next rent..

Yep, that's the idea...the banks pull the plug before a large chunk of money can be paid to the landlords.

FWIW I went to PCworld yesterday (to buy a pre-booked bargain) and I'm suprised to say it was HEAVING and there were loads of orders on the [EMAIL="collect@home"]collect@home[/EMAIL] shelves.

Morgan has gone into administration this morning, though I don't know if they did vouchers so may not affect anyone.
