Morgan has gone into administration this morning, though I don't know if they did vouchers so may not affect anyone.

Thats shocking, I would have thought they were still doing ok. Has anyone else heard of Boots problems?
I have about £90 of advantage points to spend
Personally I think that's just a case of the rumour mill going into overdrive, but we shall see.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

IMO the ONLY retailers that are fairly safe at the moment are the ones with no debt and freehold property/ies. Be honest, how many of them are debt free?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I went into WH Smith this afternoon and saw a huge sign at the back of the store saying there were no longer taking CD/DVD orders, is that something to worry about? They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

Boots were bought out by a private equity company just before the credit crunch started last year and are considered to be carrying a huge amount of debt that's proved difficult to shift in the current climate. There's a bit about it here (sorry for the ancient link):

It's not that they're not a viable business - obviously they are - it's more servicing the debt that's borrowed against them. I don't think they'll go under but I've got £150.00 of points that I'm going to be spending soonish just in case.
Perhaps they'll look to cut back on the points' scheme in the near future, as it must be costing a fortune, although I suppose it pulls the punters in. Who knows at the moment?
Basically I'm getting rid of any points/vouchers that I've been hoarding, which is a shame as I like a hoard!0 -
We seemed to get a lot of vouchers this year, which is strange for us.
We've cleared almost all of them now - just have £5.80 'change' on an Argos giftcard, and about £40 worth of Boots points left (hopefully these two will be safe - at least for the next month - the points are earmarked for the next nappy stock up).
Handed over the last few of this years High Street Vouchers in WHSmiths this afternoon, and the chap behind the counter commented on the number of names printed on them that no longer existed - we found 4 without even thinking about it that were trading when I received the vouchers in November who aren't now, and I'd lay odds there are more, or will be in the next few months. Needless to say, I won't be saving for them again in the near future.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
I knew of a company that always waited for the Bailiffs to call for the rent as they got more in interest keeping their millions in the bank for a few extra weeks than paying the Bailiffs fees of a few hundred pounds.0
