I went into WH Smith this afternoon and saw a huge sign at the back of the store saying there were no longer taking CD/DVD orders, is that something to worry about?

More likely to do with the downfall of Entertainment UK (Wollies) they supplied several stores including Zavvi with CDs/DVDs etc.

    what rubbish

if they know the date, in the future, when a company will be calling in the administrators, they will also know who it is, & who the administrators are.

but, the only way to know that is if it has already been done.

all they are doing is fueling potentially damaging rumours, which is what theyve also done to the banks

does the OP have a date & approx time for this programme?

Dont panic! I don't think they will be going bankrupt any time soon, but I do think they are liable to rise prices, cut staff and save money wherever possible. They market themselves to the type of person who is sorely going to be hit by rising costs and bills (utilities, petrol, childrens school fees..etc) so they are likely to suffer in the comming year as the credit crunch hits their customers hard.

I think you can safely say your vouchers are safe- you may find though, that their prices rise to try to cover any losses they make in the comming year.

I'm the OP and don't remember the date but it was on the Radio 5 "Up all night" show which broadcasts through the night. I'm not a good sleeper and I tune in when I wake up during the night.

I didn't dream it and I didn't make it up either!

  • 15 Jan seems awfully convenient- i thought going into admin was an unplanned, last resort thing, based on recent failures?

perhaps 'they' are goiing to stiff their landlord for the next rent..
It could be the final date they have been given to come up with the money.

  • I would never buy vouchers from any company. The best 'vouchers' are pieces of paper issued by Bank of England with £ symbols on them. They can be used anywhere, any place and have no expiry.
