Are WHSmith actually in trouble ? Last lot of results they published (in November) showed that they were bucking the trend and not doing too bad. Also - they were moving away from CDs / DVD sales and back to the magazine / stationery side of things

I just wondered what evidence there was that they were in trouble ?

Hopefully, this whole fiasco with Zavvi will make people see sense and stop buying vouchers. They have always been a bit of a con, and people are waking up to that fact, maybe it will even lead to the death of the gift voucher as a concept, we can only hope

the thing is, given the current economic climate,it could be any big name on the high street...i think i know who it is that is going down the crapper though, from what i have heard at my crimbo job, its clinton cards as they are in trouble + losing a lot of money year on year. but thats just what i have heard.

i think its really sad to see quite a number of high street reyailers hitting the wall. i only got a boots card now and it has 4.50 on it. i spent the last 40 odd quid on a something special for me.
