The first time TigerLily the cat came into the garden and the last 2 the 'gate was left open and she managed to get out'.

    Go figure:confused:

surely you research breeds before deciding one (Hence me wanting a Cav lmao)

No chance of them eating anything unless it's Chum...the other 23 and a half hours of the day are spent sleeping!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Why the hell didnt you MAKE SURE your dog couldnt get out of the garden????? If it had been my cat id have sued you for every penny your worth. You shouldnt have a big dog like this if you cant keep it under control ALL THE TIME!
  • I know I have been a bit harsh - but really what kind of person would just do nothing. She clearly doesn't care that much about her own dog anyway as she doesn't look after it properly, by letting it get out of the garden. What if it got run over and killed? If I can watch my kitties on my patio and stop them from escaping - and they're blooming quick, she's just got no excuse.:mad::mad:

The more I think about it I just can't understand her reasoning for posting. Totally stupid - or wants to cause controversy.

I just don't understand why anyone would post offensive things if they're not a troll.

  • That's exactly what she did say Mrs E at the end of her first post...asking how to help 'this increasingly popular habit'...like he had just taken up smoking!!!!

I know it wasn't meant tobe funny, but brilliant choice of wording.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You've not been harsh - you've been honest.:)

Maybe it is a troll, maybe an attention seeker or maybe someone who genuinely doens't think there was a problem till now.

Whatever, I just feel sorry for her (and those poor cats that I STILL have tears in my eyes for - and I am not even a cat person!! I'm allergic to he wee things and a lil bit wary after I got a nasty bite years ago when I was doing my training in the vet surgery!) and am bloody glad I don't live in her neighbourhood;)
  • OK I'm prepared to be shot down here, but let me play Devil's Advocate for a moment.

Are we really surprised, shocked and outraged that a dog has killed a cat - or three cats or even thirty cats? Isn't it pretty much instinctive in dogs?

In the same way, isn't it instinctive in cats to kill birds? Or mice? Or rats? So should a cat be subject to the same rules and destroyed or retrained for doing so?

I have a dog who doesn't chase/kill cats - or birds, chickens, sheep, horses etc .... but that's because he was raised as a puppy amongst all these animals and trained from day one not to chase them - not even in that fun way that puppies like to.

Animals are predators afterall ...... isn't this just part of nature?

Genuinely confused and not just trying to pick a fight :)
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

can I borrow your dog? Next doors cat keeps sitting on top of my brand new car!.....I'm joking before anyone says anything!
No but seriously, this must be so distressing for the owner of this cat aswell as yourself of course. Not sure what kind of advice to offer apart from talking to your vet about the problem. Maybe some of the other posters will have some ideas. Japanese Akitas are absolutely stunning dogs though.

Look at her response to this:mad:

Thanks, youd be surprised how many people have asked to borrow her for that reason ;)

She is beautiful - we except for twice yearly where she just becomes a hairball! (tip - Dyson Animal!).

Whats all the smiley wink about:mad:
Treating it as one big joke:mad:

    I'm so angry reading this......

(Hence me wanting a Cav lmao) & would know Akitas & Huskies etc need 6ft+ fencing?

Good luck getting a Cav..... just make sure the breeder has checked mum and dad for syringomyelia:eek: . (Make sure you get to see the results from C.T. scans)

I'm not surprised a large powerful dog has killed these cats.

I'm DISGUSTED that the OP lets her Japanese Akita wander the streets alone.
