What a sensible post - and all the better for being from a fellow owner.0 -

Yes, I balked at the proud tone of the cat owner not being able to sue for vet bills.
She logged on yesterday I see but didn't respond to this thread......0 -
So cute dutch. Your kitty looks Very smug. lol. Exactly - anyone who lets their dog 'roam' what ever its size is irresponsible in my eyes.
Save me from spending...

maybe we should just hijack this thread, with pics of our own, non-killing pets. I do sniff a trollie-dollie.:p
Well actually my kitties have flattened a few spiders recently, but they're indoor kitties and monitored outside, so have squashed nothing else....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Save me from spending...

Earlier you said I had no knowledge of large dogs - I do I have owned several German Shepherds and took one of them up to TDex in Working Trials (that was more than 20 years ago). There are some breeds that you rarely need to worry about. You just feed them, take them for a walk and they are seldom a problem. Other breeds need far more attention. You and I know that to be the case but the average person does not therefore the average person ought not to be allowed to obtain certain dogs. I doubt you disagree with me but please say if you do. That being the case I think size is an easier restriction to impose than breed restriction. Plus it is unreasonable to expect an old lady who wants a Pomeranian for company to attend obedience classes with it. However it ought to be mandatory for anyone with a large dog to attend such classes to learn how to handle the dog and for it to be socialised with people and other dogs.
OK, lets put it another way - If you look at the overwhealming majority of attacks where children are killed by thier parents Rottweilers you will find that almost every single incident occurs within a family that was barely even capable of bringing a child up properly let alone a dog - when was the last time you ever heard of a Rottweiler owned by an educated middle class family attacking & killing one of thier own children? What's different there then - the breed of dog or the type of owner?
Now do you see where i'm coming from? The point is that It doesn't matter what breed the dog is if it's in the wrong hands, just because a smaller dog is less likely to cause serious injury is irrelevant, dogs are a product of thier environment.0 -

Any normal person would surely just take responsibility and pay up.
Are we sure this poster isn't a troll. She's conveniently 'gone on holiday' we're here debating etc etc....
I also noticed the subsequent attack was almost excused by blaming it on someone else leaving the gate open - as if that somehow exhonerates the owner of any responsibility. I too am starting to wonder if this is a wind up.0 -
What is it with these bloody trolls?
Seriously, if the telly is that crap then read a book!0 -
And if it's not a troll but a genuine question then that's appalling as well.....0

WOW...the class thing rears its ugly head... When was the last time you heard a lowerclass coucil dad allowing his daugher to be hit by a 4X4 while she drives her newly given quad????? Or the posty attacked by 2 Higherclass rotties, LOL lets not go here.. Simple truth. DOG's ARE HUNTERS it doesn't matter if it is a Shih Tzu or an AKITA.. Both the Shih Tzu (or the pomeranian owned by an old lady) and the AKITA and all the things in the middle should be socialized with humans and other animals. Should this dog be put down??? No but the owner should be prosecuted for failing to controle and supervise it propperly. This post would do good on the JAWT (Japanes Akita Welfare Trust)forum (http://www.jawt.co.uk/forum/).
P.S. please enlighten me what is a Troll??? In my day they where shrek like things that stink....nothing to do with a webforum LOL0
