Yes, cut the bad bits out first.
WHen you go shopping next, don't think 'I'll have some of that, that and that, and btw that looks nice'. If there's just you, then roughly work out how many pieces you eat a day and when you're next likely to get to the shops. Bananas are tricky, coz if you're fussy about how you have them, then you'll need to get a range of ripeness, or if you like them green, eat them at the beginning of the week. If you put them in the fridge they'll go black, but the inside should be unaffected.
I've found that if a pear is 'off' then often the whole thing tastes fusty. Apples are easier. Grapes/cherries/rasps/strawberries need to be kept in the fridge (they do if my dad is around as he swipes a handful every time he passes.
Generally the harder the fruit, the longer the shelf life."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Oh dearie me,
what a blinder I appear to have played. A full stomach and a very inane grin on my face. Am I :j and  or what!!
Apologies for being so joyful but I've just made my first ever apple crumble
Not only that, but I've partaken of a dish-full of it and there's still 3 portions left to freeze. As I enjoyed making it so much, I'm left wondering why I've never bothered cooking before
Thanks to all for the inspiration.

Fruit salads and smoothies! Yoghurts or ice cream dishes - just chop and serve. Eat fruit with cereal - Banana sandwiches! Loads of things - ooh lots of yummy fruit - lucky you! Chop it up and put it in jelly and serve with ice cream or make yummy punch (pimms/rum etc) or liquidise and use for cocktails.
Make individual fruit baskets and give to ppl as gifts - 5 a day gifts to make ppl smile maybe!
Hope this helps

The apples and plums can be stewed together and frozen in individual portions in yogurt or cottage cheese pots. This mixture is ideal for stirring into porridge for brightening it up. or putting into smoothies if you have a food processor. (just simmer for about 5 minutes over a low heat, or cook for the same amount of time in the microwave.).0

Chop them up and make into a fruit salad. For dressing, dissolve sugar in hot water and add lemon juice (preferably fresh) and stir it all in. Even nicer second day (and lovely with cream if you're going for sheer indulgence!)0
