DWP employment waiting list

  • Hiya, just thought i would say that this isnt correct! Every area works differently. People in some areas are placed on waiting lists until the job centres in that area finialise how many people are required, how much funding they can get and when they can facilitate the correct training procedures for so many people! There is still hope for those on the waiting lists, you just need to find out how your area is operating the recruitment process.

I should really have gone to Specsavers and read this post before I posted the one above! Thanks button pushed......

I also applied in Essex and I'm 23rd on the AO list and about 200th on an EO list of over 300 people (gutted). All my checks were back (inc CRB) about a week and half ago and I've still not heard anything. I know they have taken a couple of new people on my local jobcentre and they have over 20 positions to fill. Hope this helps.

That's really helpful thankyou Dr.e. Mine is an AO position so when you get your phone call offering you a place I will start thinking I am not far behind you :) Unless we've gone for completely different branches. I think it is a long waiting list though so 54th isn't too bad.. maybe.
  • I had an interview in March for an AO position. I had the you have been placed on a waiting list for 6 months letter 1 week later and a few weeks after I received the CRB check. I was advised a few weeks ago to chase my referees and ask them to send back any correspondence as the DWP were obtaining my references. I contacted my referees and neither have received any documents. I rang DWP in Newcastle to ask for an update to be told by an employee that he is just the middle man and that I should receive an offer of employment in the future sometime. I was led to believe at my local DWP that they are in need of staff sooner rather than later. It's been suggested that the HR dept is in Sheffield, but I cannot obtain any information or phone number to contact them. Does anyone have any contact details please? Also could you please let me know how you found out where you were placed on the waiting list. Many thanks.
  • Has anyone applied for the South Tyne and Wear Valley EO vacancy, the interviews were at the Marriott last week?

Well fingers crossed to everyone - I feel much more positive now that I know that my letter is a definite subject to the checks, but it sounds like even if you are on a waiting list you get placed in the job sooner or later (perhaps later...)

Thanks for responding Molli, I hope the job is going well!

Didn't know they were holding more interviews!! My interview for the South Tyne and Wear EO position was early April, received my successful waiting list letter a week later and have been waiting ever since!! I'm 25th on the waiting list, have received my CRB forms back. So weird, why are they recruiting more people if they haven't even got the successful candidates in a job yet!! Grrr...!!! No offence to you!! Are you waiting to hear whether you are successful or not? Good luck!

Does anyone know whether they only do checks if there is a vacancy for you? Or if they just run checks on all successful candidates so you are ready to go WHEN a vacancy does become available?

Thought you were 2nd on the list shahzadi?

Each exercise differs - some do checks on all people (like me) who on waiting list then when we're all passed and ready - they give out details to the JC+ and they organise training, start dates etc!!

and in some cases there are 100 posts to fill and get the best 100 that passed and do checks on them and if any out the 100 fail or back out then they pick the next person on waiting list!

I dont know how correct this is what I've mentioned but I have learnt this from my experience on MSE and got to say - have learnt a lot about DWP and their recruitment process and good for people to share their experiences and didn't think people were going through the same experience! Good to know! lol

I applied for EO position in Hampshire & Isle of Wight. I was in the batch before you though. I had my tests and interview on the same day - 16th Feb. I was offered a position on 1st May and started on 11th May.
Since I have started, I understand that some internal applicants applied later than me and had their interviews mid-April - they are just being offered positions now.
Anyway, that is just to give you an idea of my timescale. Hope you hear soon!

    Hi Molli

How are you finding the job so far?

Did you get your starter pack before your start date?

Did you make the reight decision?!

Hi there, Wow, I am really surprised that they are still interviewing, as I know quite a few people on the waiting list who have not yet received a phone call about a start date !! I had my EO interview at the Marriott early April, and start work next week. I have managed to find out (for interest) that I was number 33 on the waiting list. Still no paperwork, but the HR officer has reassured me that the salary and fixed term contract are as per the advert & the official contract will be done in the Job Centre when I start. It's the first time I've ever been successful in getting a job with nothing in writing before I turn up but it seems to be that they are just so busy at the moment. For info, I also now understand that HR are simply doing the admin, the actual recruitment timeframes, and when to appoint etc etc lies entirely in the hands of the Job Centres, so I get the impression that calling the HR team to 'chase' a start date isn't really going to help anyone, unless it's a case of you wanting to know your position on the list, and whether or not all your checks are in order. Good luck to everyone on the waiting lists.
